If you are an NRA Voting Member, you received a ballot in the March Issue of whatever magazine you get from the association. There are two members of the current board from Colorado running for reelection. They are Robert K. Brown and Steven C. Schreiner.

I am going to encourage you to vote for both of these individuals. Colonel Brown’s bio is on page B of the 2009 Director Nominations. Mr. Schreiner’s bio is on page F.

Both of them are long-time stalwart defenders of the Second Amendment. I believe they have done more than any other persons in Colorado in the defense of the fundamental, individual right to armed self-defense against crime, tyranny, and genocide.

Your ballot will tell you to vote for no more than 26 candidates. If you vote only for Colonel Brown and Mr. Schreiner, you will give them a better chance to be elected.

It is vitally important that you vote in this election.

If you do not belong to the NRA, or other pro-individual rights organization, such as the Firearms Coalition of Colorado, you are risking your birthright of freedom as an American Citizen. See my Category: “Order of Battle.”

The Racist, Discriminatory, and Genocidal Roots of American Gun Control

The African-American Experience

Understand! Gun control is discrimination. The rich and powerful will always enjoy the benefits of the protection of armed force through legal privilege and bodyguards. It is only “common citizens” who are disarmed by restrictive laws and gun bans.

Hard-Left Democrats often describe the centuries of slavery and repression endured by African-Americans as a holocaust or genocide. During the Civil War, it was Southern Democrats and their northern cousins, the Copperheads, who defended slavery. Abraham Lincoln, who freed the slaves, was the father of the Republican Party. After the war and Lincoln’s assassination, it was most often Democrats who were the leaders in denying constitutional rights to blacks, including the right to keep and bear arms.

Before the war, the Scott V. Sanford Supreme Court Decision, often known as the Dredd Scott Case, cited the right to go armed as one of the rights of an American Citizen that was denied to a slave. Of course, the forced disarmament of black slaves and free blacks long predated the Civil War Era.

David Kopel, a prominent Colorado Attorney, who was part of the plaintiff’s legal team in the important Supreme Court Heller Decision that struck down the Washington, D.C. handgun ban, discussed the racists roots of American gun control in his book, The Samurai, The Mountie, and The Cowboy. “…the first mention of Negroes in Virginia’s laws had been a 1644 provision barring free Negroes from owning firearms…” (Page 332)

Following the War Between the States, southern “states enacted Black Codes, which barred the black freedmen from exercising basic civil rights, including the right to bear arms.” (Page 333)

“The Special Report of the Anti-Slavery Conference of 1867 complained that freedmen were ‘forbidden to own or bear firearms and thus…rendered defenseless against assaults by whites.” (Page 333) Kopel goes on to describe the activities of the Ku Klux Klan and other white racists in disarming and terrorizing blacks. (Kopel, David B., The Samurai, The Mountie, and the Cowboy, Prometheus Books, Buffalo, NY, 1992, Pages 332-335.)

Arniter Jamison is a black Republican activist. When interviewed in 2004, she was the Public Relations Director for the Colorado Black Republicans. She described the relationship between the Ku Klux Klan and the Democratic Party and why she is a Republican.

“Most of the intimidation and the Ku Klux Klan, which was an auxiliary of the Democratic party-…-it was their job to intimidate Republicans.” “During the Reconstruction and during ‘Jim Crow laws,’ we had the same gun control laws that they’re trying to put in place now, which meant blacks could not own guns. When the Ku Klux Klan came to intimidate them, they had no way of defending themselves.” (Hanks, Ed, “Rampart Exclusive Interview, Arniter Jamison, Communications, Colorado Black Republicans,” The Front Range Rampart, Denver, Colorado, March 4th, 2005, Pages 8 & 9.)

On 01-31-09, the History International Channel (276) ran a documentary made in 2008 from 8-10 PM Mountain Standard Time. It was entitled, Aftershock, Beyond the Civil War. This presentation detailed the rise of the Ku Klux Klan and how “Radical Republicans” fought to suppress Klan violence across the South. In 1871, President Grant deployed federal troops in an attempt to protect blacks, workers of the Freedmen’s Bureau, and Union sympathizers who were being intimidated and murdered by the Kan and other white supremacist organizations.

For two other articles on the history of racism in America, see “The Democrats’ own history with race,” and “Black Leader: Democrat Party Architect of Racism.” For our purposes, however, we are more concerned with the fact that gun control was a key element during centuries of repression and genocide against African-Americans.

Gun control/disarmament is always a necessary precursor to oppression and genocide. Racists find it hard to lynch minorities, when those minorities are armed and able to effectively resist intimidation, terrorism, and murder.

To be fair to modern Democrats, there are a number of them who have supported civil rights for blacks and other minorities. Charlton Heston was a Democrat, when he marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In Colorado, we are fortunate to have a number of Democrats who support all the natural, fundamental rights of all citizens recognized by the Constitution. State Senators Isgar and Tochtrop come to mind. U.S. Representative John Salazar is a supporter of the Second Amendment.

Dr. Gary Kleck, the Florida researcher who has done groundbreaking research on defensive gun use in this country is a registered Democrat. David Kopel, quoted above, of the Independence Institute, is also a registered Democrat. There are Democrats who believe in freedom from draconian gun laws.

Let us all learn from the racist roots of American gun control. When someone says, “Power to the People!” remember that gun control has always taken power from the people and given a monopoly on armed force to those who are rich and politically connected.

Ask your Liberal acquaintances to imagine the politician that they most hate and fear. Give them a moment to think. Then, ask them a question. Do they want to pursue gun control and possibly give that despised person an absolute monopoly with regard to firearms’ possession and use?

Stay tuned for the Native American experience with regard to guns.

On 01-07-09, the 67th Colorado General Assembly went into session. For the next 117 days, the House and Senate will meet at the Capitol in Denver to wrestle with the issues facing the state. Budget deficits, economic issues, transportation (roads and bridges), education, energy policies, and health care issues seem to dominate the political landscape. In there first three days, I heard no anti-gun rhetoric and saw no anti-gun bills.

This absence of early activity does not mean that a spree killing with a semi-automatic weapon in a “gun free,” criminal-safe free fire zone could not provoke a storm of anti-Second Amendment legislation. There is still much time available for bills to be introduced that could negatively impact the legal rights of Coloradoans to armed self-defense from crime, tyranny, and genocide.

The early calm could also mean that state gun control radicals are waiting to see what happens at the federal level under a decidedly anti-gun Obama Administration. There are currently about 14 anti-individual rights bills before Congress. The Obama Transition Team has listed four anti-gun priorities. See my posts, If Obama wins, you lose gun rights. He only has to sign the bills,” and “Anti-gun Obama takes off the mask,” under the Category, “Elections.”

Hopefully, the Democrats at the state and federal levels will find better things to do than tinker with the fundamental individual rights of Colorado Citizens that were recognized by the Second Amendment. Stay alert!

Last Thursday, Students for Concealed Carry on Campus filed a lawsuit against the University of Colorado for prohibiting persons with concealed carry permits from exercising their right to self-defense on the campuses of the CU system. You will remember that an appeal by this group to the CU Board of Regents failed earlier this year. See my post of 08-27-08 under the Category: “Concealed Carry.” Battle lines have been drawn along the usual argumentative key terrain features.

The other side continues to state and apparently believes that guns, themselves, are more dangerous to their law-abiding owners and others than are the knives, clubs, and yes, guns, carried by predatory criminals. It is interesting to consider that some persons in government and academia think it is better for honest people to be victimized than it is for them to be allowed to arm themselves for self-defense.

The persistence of the “Nanny State” mentality is especially annoying considering the numerous recent attacks on young women around the CU Campus in Boulder, CO. I thought the mantra of the Left was “If it only saves one life…” Apparently no one has been killed yet in the People’s Republic, but it doesn’t look like the police have nabbed the perpetrators, either.

Imagine for a moment that you are at home. You hear a noise. A violent felon kicks in your front door. Thankfully, you are next to a telephone. You pick up the handset and dial 911. “Hello, Police! A man just broke into my house. My address is…” You are now face to face with your potential attacker.

You know from some research on the subject that the best expected police response time is about four minutes. You have at least four minutes to “entertain” your “guest.” Maybe he’s a nice guy. Maybe he’ll say, “Gee, I’m sorry I broke your door. Here’s a hundred dollars to pay for the damage.” Maybe then he will walk back out through the doorway never to be seen again.

On the other hand, he may be intent on robbery, rape or murder. He crosses the floor toward you with a weapon in his hand. He is younger, faster, stronger; or older, faster, and stronger than you are. How many times can he hit you with that baseball bat in four minutes? How many times can he stab you with his switchblade or butterfly knife before the police arrive? How many times can he shoot you or a member of your family before you hear the siren and see the flashing lights through your window? Will you be able to see or hear in four minutes?

I was going to suggest that you try slapping the palm of your non-dominant hand with a ruler to see how many blows or stab wounds you might absorb during a four-minute waiting period. I tried it, myself, for about a minute, then I decided against asking you to do it. (Shows you just how crazy I might really be!) I didn’t like the sensation and I figured someone would probably sue me for telling them to hit themselves, so don’t try this at home or elsewhere under any circumstances.

Just look at your watch and imagine what it would be like to have to endure a physical assault for the four minutes that might be the best possible police response time to your 911 call. If you have already survived an assault, you know how long one minute can be. (Like President-Elect Obama, who only talks to living past Presidents, I don’t directly try to address the departed on this blog.)

The point of the above imaginary journey, of course, is to make you think about the difference between having a legal firearm in your hand when the thug comes in the door, and standing in your own living room confronting a deadly physical threat with no tool to counter it. You will probably never really have to face such a situation.

You probably also have car insurance and fire insurance. (By the way, if you live in Washington, D.C. or Chicago, Illinois, your local authorities have made the decision for you, at least with regard to handguns.) (See my posts under the categories “Gun Law Failures,” and “Courts” for more information on Chicago and D.C.)

Didn’t President-Elect Obama come out of the Chicago Democrat Political Machine? Oh, yeah! How soon we forget! Maybe we never knew, because the Mainstream Media forgot to tell us. Yeah! Yeah! They forgot to tell us.

In any case, if you decide to avail yourself of your fundamental individual right to armed self-defense against crime and tyranny, learn how to safely handle a firearm and learn the state, federal and local laws regarding the storage and use of your gun. (We have about 22,000 gun laws in this country. Apparently those aren’t enough, because the all-knowing, all wise Democrats have about another fifteen proposed anti-gun laws in Congress and many more anti-gun laws up for consideration at the state level across the country.)

Understand! (Don’t you just love how “The Chosen One” commands our attention.) Understand that four minutes can be an eternity! What are you going to do with that four minutes, if you face a deadly attack in your home? What are you going to do, if you are attacked in the street or your car is carjacked? Understand that Chicago has one of the highest violent crime rates in the United States!

Just a thought about police response time.

For those of you not familiar with the AIDS Virus, it attacks T Cells, which are the sentries in the human body that identify and destroy disease causing organisms, before those organisms can spread. I believe gun control, no matter how “well-intentioned” is the AIDS Virus of tyranny attacking the guardian T Cells of the American Body Politic.

Let’s look at the parallels. The AIDS Virus is hard to stop with a vaccine, because it mutates rapidly. It is always changing, yet always bent on replicating itself, and in so doing, destroying the host organism. Gun control constantly mutates, shifting from “Saturday Night Specials,” to “Assault Weapons,” to “Sniper Rifles,” to “Ammunition Accountability,” to attempts to classify ammunition as explosives. We see predatory lawsuits against gun makers, ammunition taxes, government intrusion into private medical records, and numerous other ploys to strip the American People of their fundamental, individual right to armed self-defense against crime and tyranny.

What does the AIDS Virus do to the body? By killing the T Cells, AIDS allows cancers and other diseases to spread in the human system. By denying citizens the right of self-defense to crime, gun control insures that armed criminals will have a much better chance to succeed against unarmed victims. The criminals kill and injure more and more honest citizens. The call goes out for more gun control. Like an infection racing through the body, the contagion spreads. In the worst cases, genocide results, when criminals become entrenched in governments and begin to kill their unarmed citizens and others wholesale.

Cities like Chicago, Detroit, New York City, and Washington, D.C. are examples of relatively low-level infections perpetuated by the AIDS Virus of gun control. (See my posts under the category “Gun Control Failures.”) Hitler’s Germany, Stalin’s Soviet Union, and Pol Pot’s Cambodia are examples of overwhelmingly fatal cases of genocide preceded by governmental disarmament of the intended victims.

(See the Jews for the Preservation of Firearms’ Ownership Website for a comprehensive list of countries where gun control has preceded wholesale murder.)

I believe the Second Amendment is the most important amendment in the Bill of Rights, because it is the article that recognizes the fundamental, natural right of the individual citizen to personal self-defense. This individual right translates into an effective shield against both criminal activity and governmental slaughter.

In our own county, the roots of gun control are sunk deep into the rotten soil of racial discrimination. Native Americans and Blacks were both “legally” denied the right of armed self-defense before their freedoms were infringed upon and many of them were slaughtered outright.

I believe we do ourselves and our children a fatal disservice, if we ignore the lessons of history and allow ourselves to be deluded into thinking that laws will deter armed criminals and potential tyrants. I do not think that it is unreasonable to ask the following question. What are the proponents of gun control planning that is so terrible that they fear armed resistance?

If you own a gun and/or support the Bill of Rights, please do what you can to support Saxby Chambliss. If you own a gun and/or support the Bill of Rights and did not vote for John McCain, slap yourself around for about half an hour, and then do what you can to support Saxby Chambliss.

Sometimes, at gun shows, I meet people who don’t want to join a pro-individual rights organization, because they don’t want to be “on a list.” They don’t want “Those People” to know who they are. The non-participants in the debate won’t write letters or make phone calls, because “They” will identify the low profile folks as individuals who are interested in guns.

I tell the would-be “under the radar” folks that “They” know who you are. If you have ever purchased a gun from a dealer, that yellow sheet is almost undoubtedly still on file somewhere.

If you have ever attended a gun show and parked in the parking lot, I believe there is a strong possibility that a federal agent or a police intelligence officer has recorded your license number as a gun show patron. There was an incident a few years ago in Colorado where vendors at a show noticed an officer taking an exceptional interest in the license plates in a gun show parking lot.

Ever send an E-Mail or talk to someone on the phone about guns? Ever hear of Echelon and Carnivore? These are code names for massive electronic surveillance operations that target electronic communications. Sophisticated computers scan messages and conversations for key words and phrases. “Guns,” “ammunition,” “hunting,” “shooting,” and “bullets,” would be good guesses on targeted words.

Go to a shooting range or gun club? Park in the parking lot? Patronize one of the big box stores that sell guns, ammunition and hunting supplies? Do you know the background of everyone in your gun club or collectors’ association? Ever subscribe to a hunting or shooting magazine?

I’m not trying to make you paranoid. I’m telling you that the chances of you flying “under the radar” are not good, unless you never used a credit card to buy ammunition, never bought cammo through a catalog, or never associated with anyone in “the Gun Culture.”

How do you know that your visit to this Blog hasn’t triggered a trace on your browser? Are you accessing the net from a library, or from your very own computer in your very own home? Privacy? No such thing in the electronic age!

Did you EVER belong to the NRA, GOA, JPFO, RMGO, FCC, or other pro-Second Amendment Organization? Ever attend a CCRKBA/SAF gun rights conference? (If those initials don’t mean anything to you, I strongly recommend that you find out about gun rights groups, before “They” pay you an unfriendly visit or send you a letter “requesting” your immediate presence at “Headquarters.”)

OK! So “They” know who you are. How do you keep “Them” from coming after you?

You join one or more of the above organizations and support them with your money and your time. You write letters to newspapers. You E-mail, write, and call your elected officials and inform them of your opinions on your individual right to armed self-defense against crime and tyranny. You keep visiting Blogs and Websites that deal with Second Amendment issues. You talk to your friends about the need for armed citizens and the beneficial effects of guns in a free society.

You save Conservative Talk Radio from the “Fairness Doctrine” and resist any attempt at additional “Campaign Finance Reform.” You protect the First Amendment with all the zeal that you bring to protect the Second. Work to keep the UN out of US affairs.

You read the studies from the CDC, the NAS, the Small Arms Survey, and Kates and Mauser, so you can talk intelligently about the scientific basis for the desirability of civilian gun ownership. You get out and campaign, or campaign more, and give money, or give more money to candidates who will support your natural, fundamental right to self-defense. You vote for electable candidates who will support your rights better than their opponents. You will not throw away your vote on a third party candidate with no chance to win.

You go to the range and practice to increase your skill and gain enjoyment from a worthwhile sport. You live your life one day at a time, realizing that freedom isn’t free and that history hasn’t stopped. If you hunt, you enjoy the outdoors and the other benefits of being with friends. You realize that no human being lives forever, but that you can make a positive difference by supporting individual rights.

You never EVER give up on America and its promise of freedom. If even ten percent of 80 million gun owners in America stand up as one and say not “NO,” but “HELL NO!” to gun control, we will keep our legacy as a sovereign people and will regain some of the rights that we have already lost.

If you try to hide in a hole, or plan to head to the mountains, or move to another state, in the face of nanny state oppression, believe me, “They” will find you. “They” have ways of dealing mit people like you. If you don’t work harder than ever to retain your fundamental, natural right to armed self-defense, you will lose it. You will also contribute to the demise of the greatest experiment in self-government ever attempted on this tiny, spinning ball of mud and water.

The friend of the tyrant is merely his last victim. Hiding is not an option. Speak up or lose out!

Surprise! Gun sales are up! Guess many Americans don’t believe “The Chosen One” when he says that he supports the Second Amendment. (If you marvel at their skepticism, see my posts on Obama and guns.) Wonder how many first time gun buyers voted for the young, handsome, first term, junior senator out of the Chicago Democrat Political Machine?

You’ve seen the story in the New York Times, you’ve seen it on Fox News, if you watch that “mean-spirited, racist, Right-wing, reactionary, oppressive” channel. You may have read the story in the Denver Post. Gun stores are sold out of firearms and ammunition.

A Denver gun show this weekend will be a maelstrom of gun buyers. The BATFE agents alone will fill up the parking lot. I have some suggestions, if you are buying a gun for the first time. “Understand!” (Don’t you just love that command from “The Chosen One?” I find myself quoting him more and more. I may have his picture tattooed on my… Never mind. I’m not quite that infatuated with him yet. My leg hasn’t tingled for some time.) “Understand!” I am not an attorney. This is not legal advice, merely a helpful hint or seven.

1. If you want to buy a gun from a dealer in Colorado, be prepared for a three to four-hour wait for the background check.

2. If you want to buy a gun, be prepared to pay premium prices. Supply and demand really do have an effect on cost.

3. If you buy a gun, learn how to use it safely and effectively.

4. If you buy a gun, be prepared to defend your right to keep it. Read the Bill of Rights. Read the Heller Decision. Go to a gun show and buy books by Kopel, Halbrook, Gottlieb, or other knowledgeable writer on Second Amendment issues.

5. Speak out, write, and E-Mail against any gun control proposals at any level of government. Additional compromise is a stumble down the slippery slope to complete civilian disarmament. We have around 22,000 gun laws in the United States. We don’t need more regulations.

6. Get politically active with a major political party. Become a precinct leader or a block worker. (You’ll get a much warmer reception in the GOP.) There will be virtually no pro-Second Amendment legislation in Colorado or Congress for the next two years. The anti-individual rights people are running the shows. We have to effectively organize to frustrate their agenda and prepare to take back both the political offices and the rights that we have already lost.

7. “Understand!” “The friend of the tyrant is merely his last victim.” (Disclaimer: this is a general statement regarding tyranny that does not imply or suggest in any way that a particular individual, party, movement, or other organization might have any inclination at all toward totalitarianism, despotism, nanny state socialism, communism, fascism, oligarchy, or other form of government outside of American Republican Democracy.)
