Surprise! Gun sales are up! Guess many Americans don’t believe “The Chosen One” when he says that he supports the Second Amendment. (If you marvel at their skepticism, see my posts on Obama and guns.) Wonder how many first time gun buyers voted for the young, handsome, first term, junior senator out of the Chicago Democrat Political Machine?

You’ve seen the story in the New York Times, you’ve seen it on Fox News, if you watch that “mean-spirited, racist, Right-wing, reactionary, oppressive” channel. You may have read the story in the Denver Post. Gun stores are sold out of firearms and ammunition.

A Denver gun show this weekend will be a maelstrom of gun buyers. The BATFE agents alone will fill up the parking lot. I have some suggestions, if you are buying a gun for the first time. “Understand!” (Don’t you just love that command from “The Chosen One?” I find myself quoting him more and more. I may have his picture tattooed on my… Never mind. I’m not quite that infatuated with him yet. My leg hasn’t tingled for some time.) “Understand!” I am not an attorney. This is not legal advice, merely a helpful hint or seven.

1. If you want to buy a gun from a dealer in Colorado, be prepared for a three to four-hour wait for the background check.

2. If you want to buy a gun, be prepared to pay premium prices. Supply and demand really do have an effect on cost.

3. If you buy a gun, learn how to use it safely and effectively.

4. If you buy a gun, be prepared to defend your right to keep it. Read the Bill of Rights. Read the Heller Decision. Go to a gun show and buy books by Kopel, Halbrook, Gottlieb, or other knowledgeable writer on Second Amendment issues.

5. Speak out, write, and E-Mail against any gun control proposals at any level of government. Additional compromise is a stumble down the slippery slope to complete civilian disarmament. We have around 22,000 gun laws in the United States. We don’t need more regulations.

6. Get politically active with a major political party. Become a precinct leader or a block worker. (You’ll get a much warmer reception in the GOP.) There will be virtually no pro-Second Amendment legislation in Colorado or Congress for the next two years. The anti-individual rights people are running the shows. We have to effectively organize to frustrate their agenda and prepare to take back both the political offices and the rights that we have already lost.

7. “Understand!” “The friend of the tyrant is merely his last victim.” (Disclaimer: this is a general statement regarding tyranny that does not imply or suggest in any way that a particular individual, party, movement, or other organization might have any inclination at all toward totalitarianism, despotism, nanny state socialism, communism, fascism, oligarchy, or other form of government outside of American Republican Democracy.)

Duty, Honor, Country. Thanks to all the vets who served and died, who sacrificed their futures for our benefit. “Greater love hath no man…”

Thanks to all the vets who served and lived to make this country a better place. I’m more sad and thoughtful than usual this year, because I’m afraid history is about to repeat itself. Santayana said, “Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it.” Either Einstein or Rita Mae Brown said, “The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over and expect different results.”

The incoming Obama Administration seems poised to pull out of Iraq on an arbitrary timetable without regard for the situation on the ground. At least that’s what I think Barack Obama said. He may have changed his mind five or six times since I thought I heard him say that. Didn’t he run on an anti-war platform? That seemed like his only position, “accomplishment,” and about his only qualification. Oh well. Far be it from me to question “The Chosen One.” As he is fond of saying, “Understand!”

The last time the U.S. Leftists snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, about 2.5 million Asians died and the U.S. Military suffered a decades-long crisis of confidence. If we abandon the Iraqi People, who will ever again trust the word of America?

What do we say to the families of those who gave their lives to protect our freedom, indeed, our very existence, from those who would impose their fanatical religion on the world, regardless of the cost? What will we say to the families of future military personnel? Will we even be able to recruit soldiers after another Vietnam-like sell-out in Iraq?

Compare the current situation in America to the last days of ancient Rome. If the parallels don’t make you lose sleep, it’s time for another pulse check.

(See my Post “Will Iraq become another Vietnam?” under the Category “War on Terror.”

Isn’t it interesting? After a Democrat wins a Presidential Election, everyone is supposed to have a group hug and unite behind “The Chosen One.” Most Conservative pundits have sent their congratulations to “The Chosen One.” Most Republicans put “Country First.” How about our “friends” across the aisle?

If a Republican had been elected, you can bet your Obama T-shirt that there would have been charges of “voter suppression” and lawsuits and investigations lasting until the next election. The campaign to impeach McCain would have already started. Let’s look for a moment at the issues surrounding “coming together” with the Democrats.

They have a plank in their party platform that calls for a draconian ban on semi-automatic firearms in direct contravention of the Second Amendment and the Heller Supreme Court Decision. There are about 15 Democrat anti-gun rights bills in Congress. Will Obama attack your individual right to armed self-defense against crime and tyranny as payback for his endorsement by the Brady Campaign?

The Obama Campaign-supported group ACORN registered the same voter over forty times. They registered at least one seven year-old girl. ACORN blamed the people with the clip boards. Good help is so hard to find!

The Democrats slandered Senator John McCain as being too old and out of touch to be President. They slandered Governor Sarah Palin as being a simple idiot and unqualified to be Vice President, even though she has more executive experience than “The Chosen One.” The assault on Palin continues, even though the election is over.

The Democrats used the Mainstream Media to protect Obama’s highly suspect Socialist background and associations. (Davis, Ayers, Alinsky, etc.) The Dems used that same media to viciously attack anyone, such as Joe the Plumber, who dared to question the anointed “Saviour of the Middle Class.”

The Democrats continue to talk about the restoration of “The Fairness Doctrine” to talk radio, killing one of the few media venues outside their control. The elimination of talk radio would leave only the Internet and Fox News to counter the Pravda-like hegemony of the Left-wing Mainstream Media Press and TV.

The Left blocked reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that might have lessened the impact of the housing market debacle. They supported ACORN and other “community organizations” in their efforts to force lenders to make loans to people who couldn’t and/or didn’t pay them back. Then the “Party of Diversity and Inclusion” blamed the Republicans for the economic problems that the Democrats used as a springboard to vault “The Chosen One” into the highest office in the land.

(I doubt that Obama could work in the White House in any capacity other than President. Like Bill Clinton before him, Barack Obama probably could not have passed a background check to get even a Secret Security Clearance.)

The Democrats, who now want unity, called President Bush a liar and an idiot. The Left ran on a platform of abandoning the Iraqi People to the “mercy” of radical Islam. ”Prominent” Democrats slandered the soldiers who deposed Saddam Hussein and who are working to rebuild and stabilize Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Obama Campaign refused to provide documentation on their vaunted list of small donors who supposedly contributed less than $200 per person. What about the contributions from Gaza and Kenya, or the money they took in from donors who obviously made multiple donations in excess of legal limits?

I’ve got an idea! Before we unite, let’s see if the Democrats attack the Second Amendment, like they promised they would. Let’s see if the Democrats try to degrade the First Amendment in the same way that they have traditionally denigrated the Second. Let’s have an honest investigation of Fannie and Freddie. Let’s investigate ACORN for voter registration fraud and find out how many of those extra registrations actually resulted in fraudulent ballots. Let’s have an honest investigation of the Obama Campaign for donation fraud.

If the Democrats come out clean, then we can unite. Do I think there is a chance of fair investigations and Democrat support of the First and Second Amendments? I’m skeptical. I suspect we will just Move On.

(See my posts under the categories “Elections” or “Culture War” for links related to the above assertions.)

(Note to Tiffany re: comment on “More McCain yard signs down.” (Category: “Elections.”) I appreciate your empathy on the yard sign thefts. I am less comfortable with your description of John McCain as a “disgusting old man.” First, a general comment of my own about yard sign theft and other political crimes…

Oops! Lost another Bob Schaffer sign Sunday night. Schaffer is running against Boulder, Colorado Liberal Mark Udall. That makes three stolen Schaffer signs! I have two extras in the garage. I’ll head down to Schaffer’s Headquarters and pick up a few more. Can’t have too many Schaffer signs. (Saw a fox by the sign location last night. Maybe he or she took it.)

I believe that this Democrat yard sign theft of epidemic proportions is merely a symptom of a larger problem within the Party. David Horowitz, a former Communist and leader of the Anti-Vietnam War Movement, said of the Left, ”If you believe in a future that will redeem mankind, what lie will you not tell, what crime will you not commit to make the future happen?” This “Progressive” ideological hubris, this absolute certainly of moral superiority, this crusader mentality, this attempt to live out and exploit what Horowitz has called “the romance of the underdog,” are factors that I believe drive people of the Left to steal yard signs and attempt to steal elections. (Horowitz, David, Left Illusions, Spence Publishing Company, Dallas, TX, 2003, pages 356-360, 366.) Back to McCain and the Presidential Race!

John McCain was continually tortured for a year and a half in North Vietnam, because he would not accept an early release from his captors, while his fellow POWs remained in Communist hands. That makes him an American Hero by any standards. John McCain sounded the alarm on the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Crisis in 2005, while the Democrat Party defended the bad lending practices that ultimately drove both organizations into the ground.

I don’t agree with McCain on every policy, but his experience and fortitude in the struggle against Islamofascist Terror and his relatively strong support of the Second Amendment make him my choice. It is foolish for us to allow transient economic problems to obscure the fact that we are in a struggle to the death with a violent terrorist element that wishes and plans for our destruction. (I’m not talking about the Left-Wing of the Democrat Party.)

Sarah Palin is the Governor of Alaska. She has more executive experience than the whole Obama/Biden ticket. She cut government expenses in Alaska. I think she believes “jobs” is a four-letter word. Obama’s choice for VP seems to think that ”jobs” has only three letters. Unlike some of the terms you used in your comment, Tiffany, ”jobs” is a four letter word with a good connotation.

Barack H. Obama is the junior senator from Illinois. He is the least experienced presidential candidate for at least a generation. He comes out of what is arguably the most corrupt Democrat political machine in the country. He has blatantly misrepresented his position on the Second Amendment and tried to suppress the First Amendment rights of people who disagree with him. He wants to end the use of secret ballots in union elections. Quite frankly, his anti-democratic tendencies scare me.

Obama has continually associated with Communists, including: Frank Davis in Hawaii. and William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn in Chicago. He has continuously been involved with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now(ACORN), which is at least in part responsible for the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Crisis, and which has a long-time record of voter fraud.

Obama, with only four years in the Senate, has taken more money from Fannie and Freddie than long-time Senator Ted Kennedy. Only Senator Dodd got more contributions for his support of Fan and Fred’s failed practices than your candidate, Tiffany.

Obama wants to raise taxes for everybody who pays taxes, not just the wealthy. If he gets elected and repeals the Bush tax cuts, everybody’s taxes go up. If he taxes corporations at a higher rate, the companies will simply raise their prices, passing on the expense to people who use their goods and services. You and me! Obama wants to increase taxes on retirement accounts (capital gains tax.) If you plan to save any money and to retire some day, Obama plans to tax you!

Another bad thing that will happen, if Senator Obama is elected President, is that some companies will move overseas to other countries where wages and taxes are lower. That will mean fewer jobs in the United States. Obama’s tax plans would be like pouring gasoline on a house fire.

Obama wants to give drivers’ licenses to illegal aliens. Why? I don’t know. Wait! Here’s an idea! The issuance of licenses to illegals increases opportunities for voter fraud. ACORN comes to mind again.

Finally, I believe Obama is wrong on the War on Terror. In 1975, when the American Left forced the abandonment of Southeast Asia to the Communists, about two and a half million people were murdered. The North Vietnamese Army, the Khmer Rouge, the Pathet Lao, and the Red Chinese and Soviets who supported them didn’t follow us home. If we abandon the Middle East to radical terrorists, who have already killed about 3,000 U.S. Citizens in attacks on New York and Washington, D.C., not only will untold thousands more die outside this country; we will face the prospect of chemical and nuclear attacks in our own cities.

In an incident that received little attention in the Mainstream Media, because it didn’t fit the party-line “narrative” of the Left in the War on Terror, Islamofascist operatives tried to launch a chemical attack on Amman, Jordan. The attack, which could have killed thousands, was thwarted. Some of the would-be perpetrators confessed to being trained and supervised by Abu Mus’ab al-Zarqawi, an al Qaida terrorist with ties to Iraq.

Former Iraqi Air Force General Georges Sada said he believes that the chemicals for the weapons in the planned bombing were sent from Saddam Hussein in Iraq to Syria, during the months before the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. General Sada is the author of the book, Saddam’s Secrets, published by Thomas Nelson, 2006.

Junior Senator Obama opposed and opposes the War on Terror. I believe he is incredibly naive, which is not surprising, given his complete lack of foreign policy experience. As Hillary Rodham Clinton astutely said, the Oval Office is not a place where we can afford to train on the job.

Tiffany, I don’t have time to comment in detail on your “use” of the English Language, but please lose the profanity and proofread your comments, before you send them. Everyone makes errors, but punctuation and capitalization are our friends. We shouldn’t abuse them.

Barrack Hussein Obama apparently found an NRA life member who does not understand the meaning of “shall not be infringed.” The Obama Campaign ran an ad tonight in Denver during National Treasure on Channel 24 claiming that Barack Obama supports the Second Amendment.

In my opinion, that is like saying that Adolf Hitler supported religious freedom for Jews. Let’s take a look at the Second Amendment supported by Obama.

Obama originally endorsed and later denied support for a ban on handguns. His denial is somewhat tainted by the fact that his handwriting was found on the candidate survey form containing his endorsement for a ban. Wow! There’s support for you.

Obama’s version of the Second Amendment would allow the banning of semi-automatic firearms, which make up at least half the guns in America. That’s support!

Obama would allow cities like Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., to maintain bans on the right of citizens to defend themselves with firearms. Oh, sure, Barack “Call me if you need me” Obama would “allow” D.C. residents to keep non-semi-auto firearms unloaded and disassembled at home. All you have to do in case of a home invasion is request a time out, while you put your gun together and load it. Shouldn’t be any problem getting a violent felon to give you five minutes, or so. N’est pas?

Obama seems to like it when you use a foreign language. It helps to differentiate you from those “bitter, clingy,” stupid gun owners that he ridicules, when he doesn’t think anyone but Liberal Elitists are listening. (Do you know that BHO sat on the Board of the incredibly anti-gun rights Joyce Foundation?)

The current medieval state of Washington, D.C. gun law should increase business for psychics with regard to thralls interested in self-defense, since you would need to consult a seer, brujo, or other professional on a regular basis, so you would know when to expect a home invader. Suppose psychics have a lobby?

Obama would ban most hunting ammunition, because it has the capability to penetrate most police body armor. Hunters, don’t assume your precious bolt and lever actions are safe! Your telescopic sight makes Old Betsy a “sniper rifle.” Remember the anti-hunting crowd supports BHO, along with the Communist Party and a Mid-East terrorist organization, but that’s another story.

Obama voted to virtually wipe out gun stores by prohibiting them from operating within five miles of a park or school. Now that’s real support for the rights of the people!

Obama is “on record” as opposing laws that allow government-qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons for self-defense. So much for the “bear arms” part of the Second Amendment.

Obama voted to allow predatory lawsuits against the firearms industry over criminal misuse of a legal, non-defective product. Following this logic, you could sue Ford, if you or a relative were the victim of a hit and run. Astounding support of the Second Amendment!

Obama supports gun owner licensing and gun registration. The problem here is that BHO’s liberal allies have first registered, then confiscated firearms in such diverse places as Britain, Australia, New York City, and California. More real support for the right to self-defense against crime and tyranny!

Obama is trying to suppress the official voice of the NRA’s four-million members by threatening media outlets in Pennsylvania, if they run ads showing his real position on gun issues. Seems like he doesn’t like the First Amendment any better than he likes the Second.

Hyup! Hyup! Obama’s Second Amendment sure don’t look like my Second Amendment. I guess that’s ’cause he’s so sopistikated, and all. You know, he went to Harvard. That’s one o’ them big, fancy colleges back East, don’t you know? Obama just wants the U.S. to look like most of the rest of this here planet, where a man named Madison said the rulers are “afraid to trust the people with arms.” I’m not sure what he meant by that. No foolin’. Whew! Glad I got that out of my system.

Seriously, Folks, in Obama’s Orwellian world, “The truth is lies.” “Freedom is slavery” and “Big Brother is watching you.”

As for the NRA life member supporting Obama: as an NRA member, I would be more than happy to contribute to any effort to buy back his membership, along with the one held by Michael Moore. Moore may not be a member any longer, since he no longer needs that credential to worm his way into an interview with Heston under false colors. Yet another story!

Obama may support a Second Amendment, but it is not the one in my Bill of Rights. The Liberal Democrats believe gun owners and Second Amendment supporters are bitter, clingy, and stupid. I believe that any gun owner who votes Democrat this year, or fails to vote GOP to stop Barack Hussein Obama, helps make the Liberals’ case.

You have one day (Monday) to register to vote in the General Election. Campaign and vote Republican or learn to live like the residents of the most crime-ridden cities in this country. Campaign and vote Republican or learn to live like a British subject. Remember! The British Olympic Pistol Team can not practice in their own country, because the Liberals passed “reasonable” gun laws.

The Oz Express rear-ended the Wonderland Limited en route to Camelot, as the Democrat-controlled Senate porked up the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Bailout. We have reports of knights, dragons, Munchkins, cowardly lions, white rabbits, mad hatters, and smiling Cheshire cats roaming the countryside. Rumors of Alinsky, ACORN, Ayers, and Obama have surfaced in connection with this debacle. Cloward and Piven Plan involvement suspected. SOMEBODY SAVE US!

About a week after the House Republicans stripped pork for ACORN out their version of the Bailout Bill, the U.S. Senate passed a porky bill of its own. Guess What! Sen Dem Leadership praised Barney Frank and Chris Dodd for their work on the Bailout. Frank told us a few years ago that Fannie and Freddy were healthy and necessary to helping the economically disadvantaged achieve the American dream of home ownership. Dodd received the most money from Fannie and Freddy. Barack “Call Me if You Need Me” Obama came in second in the Fan and Fred dialing for dollars Senate marathon, in spite of only four years experience as a junior senator in that august body. Check out two of Fannie Mae CEO’s with reported ties to the Obama campaign.

Confused? You should be. Or rather, you are supposed to be confused, scared to death, and desperate for “CHANGE.”

In my opinion, the Fannie and Freddie crisis and bailout is consistent with a Liberal desire to nationalize the housing market and banking industry and to drive the American People into voting for any “CHANGE.”
Paranoid? Insane? Certifiable? Crazy as a loon? Nutty? Bats? Indulge me for a few minutes in a delusion, or possibly just a bad dream.

Saul Alinsky(1909-1972) wrote Reveille for Radicals and Rules for Radicals, which basically encouraged Socialists to subvert capitalism by “becoming” the system. Alinsky thought of the Class Struggle in terms of war and wrote about defeating the “enemy.” Alinsky ingratiated himself with Chicago crime bosses and the very wealthy. (Horowitz, David, Poe Richard, The Shadow Party, Nelson Current, Nashville, Tenn, 2006, pages 56-60.)

Both Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama were students of Alinsky, who pushed the doctrine of gradual socialist revolution through the use of Middle Class activists and organizers.

ACORN plays a fourfold role in our train wreck. (Whoa! The Red Queen is in a rage. Hold on to your head!)

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now has been instrumental in promoting loans to people who could not afford to repay them. According to Newt Gingrich, who appeared on Bill O’Reilly’s show on 09-3-08, and Ken Blackwell, who appeared on Hannity and Colmes immediately after, Barack Obama trained ACORN personnel in the Alinsky Method of revolution and legally represented the group. ACORN, as a community organizing group, has been implicated in voter fraud in numerous states. (discoverthe networks.org provides more information, as does The Shadow Party on pages 39-44, 102-103, 122-126, 170, 172, 193 and 209.)

Finally, ACORN was to have been the beneficiary of housing money in the original Democrat House version of the Fan/Fred Bailout Bill. House Republicans managed to strip this particular side of self-serving pork from the bill, before it finally stalled. (Hey! There goes another flying monkey! I thnk he’s got Toto.)

Cloward and Piven were Socialist activists, who apparently believed that the American Republic’s welfare system was designed to placate the masses and prevent or slow the “natural” progression of the society toward revolution and SOCIALISM. Cloward and Piven conceived an idea to wreck the New York City Welfare System by flooding the rolls with thousands of new applicants and overwhelming existing resources. When the system could not respond to the influx, community organizers fomented civil unrest. The purpose of the exercise was to force the Federal Government to give more taxpayer money to the “poor, downtrodden” clients of ACORN through ACORN. (Shadow Party, pages 106,108,110, 114-115, 124 and 127) (Duck! Out-of-control witch on a broom. No wait! It’s a Warlock! Where did he come from?)

Alinsky, ACORN, Obama, Cloward, and Piven appear to be associated with a radical scheme that resulted in the housing meltdown and the Fan/Fred crisis. More to follow.

Here’s an interesting thought. Talk to an “average” citizen who doesn’t follow politics. This person probably gets his or her information from ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, Time, Newsweek, the New York Times, the LA Times, the Washington Post, or the Denver Post, etc. Ask this man or woman about Alinsky, ACORN, or Cloward/Piven. If he/she is unfamiliar with the names, attempt to educate him or her. He or she will think you are crazy. (Don’t you love politically correct English?

He or she didn’t hear or see any stories about these interesting folks from the Left-wing-controlled Mainstream Media news sources. “If I didn’t see it, it must not exist. If it happened, THEY would have told me.” (How much have YOU heard from the Mainstream Media about the Obama Campaign’s effort to stop the NRA from running ads in Pennsylvania about Obama’s record on guns?) (See my last post.) The man behind the curtain is not the Wizard of Oz. It might be the Cheshire Cat. All we can see is the smile.

Let’s look at the Cloward/Pivin Model as it might apply to gun control. Liberals passed regulations that made it hard, if not impossible, for honest citizens to defend themselves using firearms, e.g., Chicago, D.C., San Francisco, New York City. Criminals and spree-killer psychopaths take advantage of the Liberals’ “gun free,” criminal-safe, free-fire zones to shoot up schools, universities, shopping malls, and entire inner cities. (See my posts on Chicago under the Category “Gun Law Failures.”)

Liberals then shout “The system is broken! We must have more gun control!” Criminals and spree-killer psychopaths take advantage… And, so it goes. The Liberals’ goal is apparently SOCIALISM and total control of the “mindless,” disarmed and helpless proletariat by the Liberal Elite.

Look at Public Education. Look at the War on Terror. Every time the Left sees a fire that could damage the American Republic, they seem to reach for a gasoline can. We have economic problems. Obama wants to raise taxes. (Oh! Here comes the Camelot Crew again. THEY will save us. Watch out for the hooves of their chargers! Hey! Take it easy with that lance! The bad guys are over there!)

Peter Boyles on his Denver talk show this week had two former Immigration (ICE) agents on the air. They said that around 25,000 illegal aliens had purchased homes in the Denver Metro Area with false documents, and that about 100,000 illegals had purchased homes in Colorado. Multiply that number by Obama’s 57 states (sic) and it gives you some idea of how the Left’s policy of “Sanctuary Cities” has greased the rails, contributing to the train wreck and the increased presence of mock turtles and talking walruses in American society.

Remember that ACORN, the community organizer organization is also one of the biggest opponents of requiring identification at polling places. ACORN likes mail-in ballots. Why? Oh, I don’t know. Maybe because fraudulent voting by mail is more convenient?

I probably don’t have to remind you that the Chicago Democrat Machine, of which Barack Obama is a graduate, could be considered “the Gold Standard” for political corruption in the U.S., as well as making Chicago almost as dangerous a place as Iraq. (See my Chicago post under “Gun Law Failures.”)

Cutting to the chase, it looks to me like the Fannie/Freddie Fable is simply another example of the Cloward/Piven Strategy applied to the housing market. The Democrats, who blocked John McCain’s attempt to reform Fan and Fred in 2005, helped flood the system with impossible loans. Radical Dems blame the GOP; get their Mainstream Media cohorts to panic the American People; and stampede the admittedly weak Bush White House, the U.S. House, and the Senate to “Do something!”

“Progressives” thereby socialize a good chunk of the housing sector in the U.S. and make the people desperate for CHANGE. Call me crazy, but if a group of people make a plan, create an organization to carry out the plan, and the goals of the plan are achieved; are we supposed to believe that the situation developed on its own? Are we really as stupid, bitter, and clingy as the Left seems to think we are?

Are we to believe that the Fan/Fred Crisis conveniently (for the Dems) came to a head on the eve of an election where the most radical member of the U.S. Senate, with ties to Alinsky and Acorn happens to be running for President? Is this yet another coincidental “trout in the milk?” For a much clearer exposition than mine of this whole affair, minus the Second Amendment information, please go to this link on American Thinker.com. E-mail this one to everyone you know.

Remember Obama’s corporate board ties to former terrorist Ayers and Obama’s presence on the board of the anti-gun Joyce Foundation. Read one book, before you vote. Read the Shadow Party. The book focuses on Hillary Rodam Clinton’s affiliation with billionaire George Saros and the association of organizations known as the Shadow Party. Barack Obama is obviously the new darling of the Shadow Party, since he seems to be more radical than Clinton.

In the interest of full disclosure, John McCain comes in for his share of criticism in the book by Horowitz and Poe. “Campaign Finance Reform” was not a good idea in my considered opinion. I also have some bones to pick with McCain over his policies and actions regarding the individual right of American Citizens to self-defense against crime and tyranny. Having said that, I agree with McCain on about 80% of his gun policies. I agree with virtually none of Barack Obama’s views on firearms or just about anything else.

FDR said in effect that nothing happens by accident in politics. Look! There’s a Munchkin chasing the white rabbit! Many thanks to the Freeper or Town Hall commenter who reminded me of Cloward/Piven.

As imperfect as they are, the Republicans are the only hope we have of stopping the Far Left in this election. Vote your gun rights. Vote for freedom! Spread the word! The truth may yet keep us free!

Comments continue to come in regarding my recent post on vandalism directed against Republican yard signs. Two people in the South Denver Metro Area said to my wife and me on Saturday that their McCain yard signs had been slashed. Yesterday, I picked up a yard sign for a GOP state senate candidate that had been tossed into the street, along with a non-political Boy Scout sign that was apparently collateral damage associated with Left-wing, Nazi-like tactics.

More importantly, the Obama campaign has shown its true intolerance for diverse opinion and free speech by threatening to sue radio and TV stations in Pennsylvania that run NRA ads exposing his dismal record regarding the fundamental, individual right of American citizens to self-defense against crime and tyranny. The Messianic candidate of post-partisan “Unity” has also directed his followers to contact the stations to demand that the free speech rights of NRA members be suppressed.

According to the story as reported by Newsmax, a letter from Obama’s general counsel wrote that “…independent political organizations do not have a right to command the use of broadcast facilities…” Per the much touted “defenders of the common citizen,” only “federal candidates” have such rights. Somebody apparently has not been reading the Constitution.

The Obama Campaign letter calls the NRA ads “false, misleading, or deceptive.” The letter goes on to quote the left-wing Washington Post and the usually reliable FactCheck.org about the supposed inaccuracy of the ads. Unfortunately for Barack “Call me if you need me” Obama, Dave Kopel deconstructed the FactCheck entry by pointing out that the NRA talking points accurately reflect Obama’s public pronouncements and voting record. The NRA legal team stands behind the veracity of their allegations.

Obama claims to support the Second Amendment, but he has opposed concealed carry, supported the “assault weapons” ban, endorsed a handgun ban, supported the Washington D.C., gun ban, and voted to ban virtually almost all rifle ammunition, in addition to other “support.” “Freedom is Slavery. War is Peace. Big Brother is watching you.”

Obama’s party is the party of elite “Super Delegates.” He supports destroying the right of workers to vote by secret ballot in union elections. Obama advocates the “Fairness Doctrine” that would effectively destroy conservative talk radio, while leaving intact the Mainstream Liberal Media’s ability to present their version of the “News.” How long will it be before Obama and friends try to limit free speech on the Net? “Freedom is Slavery. War is Peace. Big Brother is watching you.” George Orwell could have been writing about Barack Hussein Obama.

If the Obama Campaign’s vandalism and open assault on the foundations of the Bill of Rights don’t outrage and terrify you, you are not only not paying attention, you are probably comatose. If Americans don’t wake up, we will have no political voice or legal ability to defend ourselves.

Vote Republican or kiss the First and Second Amendments goodbye.

CBS 2 reports that 125 people were shot and killed this summer in Chicago. The story further states that the number almost equals the number of troops lost in Iraq over the same period.

What are we to make of this carnage in a city with a handgun ban and some of the most onerous anti-self-defense laws in the country? First of all, Democrat gun control laws obviously aren’t working. This is not surprising, considering the lack of evidence that gun control laws work at all. (See previous posts under the category “Gun Law Failures.”)

I suppose the “good news,” if there is good news in this story, is that 90% of the shooters and 80% of their victims appear to be gang members. It seems the gangsters are keeping most of the violence within the (crime) family.

With regard to domestic/foreign policy: will Barack Obama now say that the U.S. should pull out of Chicago, since the city appears to be a more dangerous place for Americans than an actual war zone? (Chicago, you know, is much smaller than Iraq, so the relative danger factor would seem to be greater in Chi Town.) I believe Obama thinks that Illinois is one of our 57 states, so I’m pretty sure he would treat this as a domestic issue.

Oh! Right! I doubt we will hear a pronouncement favoring withdrawal, because Obama is a product of the Chicago Political Machine. He supports that city’s ineffective gun laws and other draconian gun control measures.

Vote Republican, or lose your legal right to own a gun. Actually, as long as Heller stands under an Obama Administration, you might be able to own a firearm, other than a semi-automatic; but you probably won’t be able to lawfully assemble the weapon or use it for anything other than a doorstop. If Obama appoints liberal judges to the Supreme Court, they may overturn Heller. It would only take one new liberal justice’s vote for the Court to rule that you do not have a fundamental, natural right to self-defense against crime and tyranny. You do the math.

You can tell that the political season is upon us. Yesterday in a brazen daylight act of vandalism, somebody stole a McCain yard sign from my front yard. I suspect a person or persons belonging to the Hard Core Left Wing of the Democrat Party.

Who benefits from this crime? That is the question of the moment. It could have been a Libertarian, but they favor free speech. It might have been a Republican who wanted a sign for his own yard. No. I suspect it most probably was someone from the party of hubris and silenced dissent. When someone steals a yard sign, he or she not only commits the crime of petty theft, they commit the much more serious crime of violating my First Amendment right to free expression.

(Speaking of hubris, did you see Charlie Gibson’s interview with Sarah Palin where he asked if it wasn’t hubris for her to seek the second highest office in the land? What a pompous, supercilious oaf Gibson appeared to be, looking over his glasses and down his nose at the Governor of Alaska. Considering that she has the same amount of foreign policy experience as Barack Hussein Obama and is one Irish kitchen table chat short of the experience of Hillary Rodham Clinton, I think Palin is as well qualified as either of those Democrat luminaries. She has more executive experience than the whole Dem Ticket.

What about “Say It Ain’t So, Joe” (Biden ) who questioned the judgement of his Presidential Candidate by hinting that Obama made the wrong choice for Vice President? How does Joe walk with both feet in his mouth? Now there’s a good subject for a scientific study. The Democrats can “invest” in a long-term research project on Biden’s ambulatory skills the next time they want to pork up an appropriations bill.)

But, I digress. I suspect Left Wing Dems of stealing my yard sign, because they have historically had a very low tolerance for freedom of expression that runs contrary to their party line. The Dems are the party of the “Fairness Doctrine” that would silence conservative talk radio, one of the two forms of electronic media that they do not yet control.

The Dems are the Party of “Super Delegates.” Super Ds are officials, operatives, and insiders given delegate status at conventions to make sure that those “common, ordinary” citizens, who the Libs pretend to represent, don’t do something of which the party elite might not approve. That’s inclusive and respectful of diversity. Not!

The Dems are also the party that wants to steal the right of secret balloting from workers in union elections. Why would they want to do that? Oh, I don’t know. Could it have something to do with increasing the opportunities for voter intimidation? “Sign the card now! You might forget to sign it later. I’ll stand right here while you do it No! I’m not intimidating you. That would be against the law. You don’t feel intimidated, do you? Do you? Good! Now, just sign the card right here on this line.”

Weren’t the Dems the ones who tried to suppress the votes of U.S. Service Members stationed overseas? I seem to remember something about that in 2,000.

Don’t get me started on voter fraud in Chicago! Remember the old joke about the female Democrat who wanted to be buried near the city, so that she could remain active in party politics?

There was also some tire slashing directed at GOP get-out-the vote vehicles. The Wisconsin Democrat perps were actually convicted.

Democrats are also overwhelmingly the party that seeks to deprive the American People of their fundamental right to self-defense from crime and tyranny. Check out almost any post on this site under the Second Amendment category. You will find the Democrats in nearly constant direct opposition to individual freedom.

The Dems are definitely among the usual suspects when it comes to suppressing free speech and individual liberty. They favor diversity, so long as it stays within the parameters of their Liberal talking points.

Oh, well. I’ve got lots of signs. I think I’ll get a video camera, so I can watch the thieves at work. I don’t suppose that they have stolen their last yard sign.

Better not be too hasty. It could be squirrels or raccoons. Might be coyotes. We’ve seen a few of those around here lately. Foxes? Skunks? Might be prairie dogs. The sign stakes could be blocking their burrows.

It’s possible that it’s not a Democrat or Democrats that stole my freedom of political expression, but as Henry David Thoreau said, “Some circumstantial evidence is very strong, as when you find a trout in the milk.”

Update! Please see subsequent posts on yard signs under the category “Elections.”

It seems appropriate on September 11th, another day that “will live forever in infamy,” to look back at the status quo antebellum and the history of the War in Iraq. This is especially important during this election cycle, since Barack H. Obama’s primary claim to fame was that he was against the 2003 invasion of Iraq, when he was an Illinois State Legislator. Many people seem to have forgotten the background of the war. (This post is Part 1 of what will undoubtedly be a multi-part series.

History is a slippery thing, especially as close as we are to Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait, 9-11, and the destruction of the Iraqi dictatorship in 2003. It will take decades for all the facts to come out and for scholars to form opinions on what actually happened. We are still experiencing revelations and debate about World War Two, the Cold War, and Vietnam.

Even so, in order to function in the time in which we live, I believe we must try to understand the complex events that brought us to our current situation. This involves bringing our individual perspectives to the choice of sources that we trust to provide the most objective information possible about the topic at hand.

My own perspective has been shaped as a child of the Cold War and my service as an intelligence officer with the United States Army in Vietnam and Europe. I also have a liberal arts background and experience and education in the field of counseling and psychology. Others will bring their own experiences and perspectives to the debate.

Liberals and some conservatives will undoubtedly find fault with my sources and conclusions. That is a right they have under what I believe to be the best form of government in the best country yet created on our planet. I do urge everyone that believes that Saddam Hussein should have been left in power to consider the following. To disagree with him would have meant an ugly appointment with an electrode, an electric drill, and/or a firing squad, followed by a quick drop into an unmarked grave.

It may be useful to remember that Saddam Hussein’s uncle, Khairallah Tulfah, was a disciple of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, a rabid anti-Jewish radical who helped Adolph Hitler organize Muslim brigades to fight against the Allies in World War Two. Saddam Hussein reportedly modeled the governance of his dictatorship after Hitler’s methods.

Hussein rose to power in Iraq after serving an apprenticeship as an assassin in the Baath Party. He purged some enemies in party congress meetings or conventions. The unfortunate victims were dragged from the halls to face torture and death at the hands of their Baath Party comrades. Hussein used chemical weapons in his war against Iran in the 1980’s. These weapons included nerve gas.

In 1990, Hussein invaded Kuwait, a small oil-rich nation southeast of Iraq on the Persian Gulf. His troops raped, burned, pillaged, and killed. The Iraqi dictator also massed forces on the border of Saudi Arabia.

As U.S.-led coalition moved troops into the region under Operation Desert Shield to defend the Sauidis from a possible attack. Hussein could simply have retreated from Kuwait with his ill-gotten loot, but he doubted the will of the United States and its Coalition allies to dislodge him from his conquest.

In 1991, U.N.-backed Operation Desert Storm threw Hussein out of Kuwait. The fighting ended with a cease-fire designed to stop the slaughter of Iraqi troops for humanitarian reasons and to meet the political concerns of the Saudis and other Muslim coalition partners.

The terms of the cease-fire included establishment of a “no-fly” zone for fixed wing aircraft over parts of Iraq. U.S. military commanders hoped that this restriction would help protect Kurds and Shiites in Iraq who had chafed under Hussein’s harsh rule. (Helicopters were exempt from the no-fly rule so that they could be used for medical missions and supply distribution to the Iraqi People. The cease-fire also mandated a limit on the range of Iraqi missiles, and the destruction of Iraq’s WMD capabilities in accordance with UN guidelines.

Following the cease-fire, throughout the 1990’s and up to the U.S.-led coalition invasion of 2003, Hussein’s forces fired on allied aircraft patrolling the no-fly zone, used rotary-winged helicopters to attack Kurds and Shiites, and obstructed and spied on UN Weapons Inspectors attempting to monitor the destruction of his weapons of mass destruction.

Saddam failed to provide required records documenting the destruction of his WMD. He built up huge stockpiles of conventional weapons by diverting UN Oil for Food Program money that had been destined to feed his people. Hussein corrupted the UN and bought the support of France, Russia, and several other member countries with kickbacks on Oil for Food contracts.

Hussein ignored 17 UN resolutions regarding his refusal to comply with the conditions of the cease-fire agreement. (Saddam’s terrorist ties and information regarding the status of his WMD programs will be the topics of future posts.)

The most salient point of this post is that the U.S.-led 2003 invasion of Iraq was the continuation of a war started by Saddam Hussein when he invaded Kuwait. Operation Desert Storm ended with a cease-fire, not a peace treaty. U.S. and Coalition troops invaded Iraq in 2003 in response to Hussein’s failure to abide by the cease-fire agreement, UN mandates, and the potential threat that he posed by his support of terrorists, including Al Qaida, and his possession of, capability to develop, use, or export WMD.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt said in a pre-World War Two Fireside Chat on this date in 1941, “When you see a rattlesnake poised to strike, you do not wait until he has struck before you crush him.” At that point in time, FDR was supporting England with the Lend-Lease Program in the defense of Great Britain against the formidable Nazi War Machine.

In 2003, George W. Bush, virtually every intelligence service in the world, almost every American government official, with the exceptions of State Legislator Barack Obama and other Hard-Left Radicals, saw in Saddam Hussein a coiling snake. Many high-level officials in Saddam’s own regime believed he had WMD. (Pages 3 and 13) In subsequent posts, I will detail why I believe most of the world was right and Obama and the radicals were wrong about Saddam Hussein, his intentions, his ties to terrorists, and his possession/development of weapons of mass destruction.

The Iraq War is important to me, because I served in Vietnam and do not want another 2.5 million or so deaths to occur because of Liberal perfidy and/or incompetence. Also, interestingly enough, many of the same people who were against the Vietnam War and are against the Iraq War also seem interested in stripping the American People of their right to self-defense against crime and tyranny.
