Cautionary note on yard sign revenge. Hunting is not worth it.
October 3, 2008 | 2 Comments
Craig put up a comment today about my post, “McCain yard sign stolen, I suspect the Democrats.” He implied that he is going hunting tonight, either for opposition yard signs, or for Democrats vandalizing GOP signs. While I understand his frustration, I would strongly discourage either activity.
When somebody steals your sign, you feel angry and violated. [...]

Comment re: “Chicago gang violence…” lacks intellectual substance
September 25, 2008 | Leave a Comment
While reviewing comments on this site, I came upon a recent two-word gem lacking capitalization or punctuation. I’m not sure if the “you suck” (sic) comment from mc loving referred to my post, “Chicago gang violence shows gun law failure” (April 24th, 2008, Category: Gun Law Failures) or to a comment under that post.
It [...]

Shooting death toll rises-time for U.S. to pull out of Chicago?
September 19, 2008 | Leave a Comment
CBS 2 reports that 125 people were shot and killed this summer in Chicago. The story further states that the number almost equals the number of troops lost in Iraq over the same period.
What are we to make of this carnage in a city with a handgun ban and some of the most onerous anti-self-defense laws in the [...]

Pobre Mexico! Gangs, drugs, gun control, corrupt police a deadly mix.
August 21, 2008 | Leave a Comment
An AP article at newsmax.com describes the horrible situation south of the border, where the witches’ brew of illegal drugs, gun control, gangs, and police corruption are driving citizens into the streets to protest the mayhem. Imagine living in a society where it is very difficult to legally own a gun for self-protection and where gangs and [...]

National Research Council nixes national ballistic database for now!
August 11, 2008 | Leave a Comment
The National Research Council (NRC), in a report released in March of this year and reported in Science Daily, has recommended against the creation of a nation-wide database made up of ballistic images of all “new and imported guns” sold in the U.S. ”Current technology” apparently “may not reliably distinguish very fine differences in large volumes [...]

Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper said earlier this week that the city would not stand for violence over the summer. I suppose he means during the Democrat Convention, when there will no doubt be a police officer on every corner. The Mayor also indicated that he would look to some other cities for possible [...]

Just a quick description of a liberal misnomer and a dash of opinion in the culture war regarding guns:
“Assault Weapon”-a liberal demonization of any semi-automatic firearm or self-feeding firearm that will fire one round with one pull of the trigger. Semi-automatic firearms are not the “bullet hoses” protrayed by the left. These guns [...]

Murder in “Gun Controlled” Mexico
May 11, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Presumed drug gang members apparently assassinated Mexico’s pro tem federal police chief in his home on May 8th, 2008. According to the AP story on Page 15A in the May 9th Denver Post, Edgar Millan Gomez was shot ten times.
I guess the gangsters didn’t get the memo about Mexico’s strict gun control laws and [...]

If gun control worked, Mexico would be Paradise
April 29, 2008 | 1 Comment
According to an AP story in the Denver Post, 13 were killed and 9 wounded in a Tijuana running gun fight over the weekend. How can that be? Mexico has gun laws of which American liberals only dream. South of the border, Mexicans enjoy gun registration, restrictive licensing, restrictions on permissible calibers [...]

Chicago gang violence shows gun law failure
April 24, 2008 | 2 Comments
An AP print story in The Rocky Mountain News on page 31, April 23rd, 2008, “Chaos among gangs,” refers to 9 deaths in 36 shootings over the past weekend in Chicago. Chicago has some of the most draconian gun control laws in the country; therefore, this orgy of gang violence indicates that the homies [...]
