No to Obamacare!
November 20, 2009 | Leave a Comment
It is now the eleventh hour in the struggle to stop the Democrat drive to socialize medicine. There are two versions of Obamacare, a house bill and a senate bill, both about 2,000 pages. In my opinion, there is no reason to write a 2,000-page bill unless you want to hide a lot of objectionable provisions. [...]

Move CO CBI Check to NICS
October 19, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Last year, about 11,000 U.S. Citizens were incorrectly denied the right to buy a gun by various government agencies in charge of background checks. Colorado, just 1 of 50 states, had over 14% of the total number of wrongful denials, which were later reversed on appeal.
Of the 5 states with the highest denial rates, Colorado led [...]

Is S. 2099 a deliberate red herring?
September 21, 2009 | Leave a Comment
S. 2099 is harder to kill than a vampire with a metal breastplate and a tanker truck full of spf 10,000 sunblock. The NRA and GOA have put out information that this thing is a relic of the 2000 Federal Legislative Session, yet it still lives on the Internet! (See my post dated 06-07-09, “All together [...]

Oh! The angst over CCW in National Parks!
September 4, 2009 | 1 Comment
There is no dearth of political commentary in newspaper comics these days. Prickly City has taken on the dreaded “Birthers.” Doonesbury is comparing Afghanistan to Vietnam. This comparison, by the way, may be apt, in that I believe the Left wants the enemies of America to win in Afghanistan, as they did in the earlier [...]

Both Liberal Columnist Mike Littwin and the Liberal Denver Post Editorial Page spanked Colorado Senators for their votes in support of the Thune-Vitter inter-state concealed carry reciprocity amendment that was shot down this week in the U.S. Senate. Both articles discussed the possibility, denied by both senators, that their votes fell under the category of [...]

Sotomayor waffles on your right to self-defense
July 16, 2009 | Leave a Comment
On 07-15-09, during her Senate confirmation hearings, Judge Sonia Sotomayor danced around questions by Senator Tom Coburn regarding her opinion about an American Citizen’s right to defend himself or herself against violence. (See Jonathan Adler’s analysis here. Keep in mind that The Washington Post is a Liberal newspaper. Adler is outnumbered two to one by Liberal [...]

68% of state attorneys general support Second Amendment as fundamental right
July 7, 2009 | 1 Comment
The NRA issued an alert today announcing that thirty-four state attorneys general have urged the US Supreme Court to hear NRA v. Chicago. They want the highest court in the land to rule that the Second Amendment is incorporated against state and local governments, as well as the federal government.
They are basing their recommendations on the [...]

H.R. 675-A national police force?
July 3, 2009 | 6 Comments
Check out the site here for H.R. 675. The bill would allow “civilian employees of the Department of Defense the authority to execute warrants, make arrests, and carry firearms.” The bill mentions these powers in conjuction with “any offense against the United States.”
As I read H.R. 675, the disturbing powers granted by the bill are the authority to “execute and [...]

All together now! A 2009 version of S. 2099 is a hoax!
June 7, 2009 | 1 Comment
There was a bill in 2000 with the number of S. 2099 that would have registered and taxed handguns. The bill did not pass in 2000. There is no bill so far this year with the number 2099 that deals with handgun registration.
I would not normally bother with this, but today at a gun show, [...]
