An Internet search of ”Ninth Circuit Court,”" Nordyke,” and “ Second Amendment,” will give you a great sample of blogs and organizational websites concerned with the debate over the fundamental right of American Citizens to armed self-defense against crime, tyranny, and genocide.  What is missing from this picture?

Out of thirty pages of Internet search results, I could find one mention of the decision by a newspaper or TV source.  The Seattle Post Intelligencer ran the Second Amendment Foundation’s press release.  Where in the name of cowardly chicken feathers were the rest of the Mainstream Media on this story?

There was actually something here that they would have liked to report: the court ruled in favor of Alameda County, California,  in banning gun shows on county property.  This decision is in keeping with some legal scholars’ opinions that Heller will not be enough to prevent massive government infringement of the rights recognized by the Second Amendment.  (More on this issue later.)

My immediate concern is the deafening silence of the national print and electronic media that are supposed to be the bulwarks of our informed discussion on critical issues.  It has become blatantly obvious to anyone who observed the lack of reporting or biased reporting of the “Tea Party” demonstrations that the Mainstream Media is more than ever determined to ignore or marginalize any occurrence that does not further the Socialist Agenda of the hard left radicals who have taken over the Universities, the “Old Media,” and the Democrat Party.

There has been a well-known, long-term Liberal bias in newspapers, television and magazine reporting.  (See my posts under the Category: “Media Bias.”)  The extent to which the Old Media now grovel at the feet of “The Chosen One” in the White House is truly beyond belief.

In any discussion with people who get their news from most newspapers, magazines, or TV outlets, the first painful thing you might want to tell them is, “You have been stonewalled and deceived.”  This is a hard position to come from, because it runs into “cognitive dissonance” issues.  People don’t want to believe that they have been deceived by their trusted sources of information, because this calls into question their personal intelligence and judgement. 

Not only do they not want to admit to past mistakes, an admission of questionable judgement means that they will be afraid to rely on their own cognitive abilities in the future.  A scary prospect, indeed!  Most people won’t make the jump, but will seek refuge in defense mechanisms, such as denial, displacement, projection, reaction formation, etc.  (See my post entitled, “Displacement as a defense mechanism in the irrational fear of guns,” 08-17-08, under the Category: “psychology.”)

Numerous sources have documented that some ordinary German Citizens stated after the war that Adolf Hitler received “bad advice” or was “misunderstood.”  This, after the bloody socialist dictator had engineered the destruction of his country and perpetrated the Holocaust.  Read Mayer’s They Thought They Were Free, excerpt here,  to get a better understanding of how honest people became involved in socialist discrimination and genocide in Nazi Germany.

It is much harder, but probably a better tactic to ask liberals questions about their beliefs and try to identify areas that they are less sure about in their own minds.  Be patient.  It is highly unlikely that you will “convert” someone during a single discussion.  Remember that they have a lifetime of conditioning and what I believe to be misinformation behind their belief systems.  When you directly attack their belief systems, you are attacking them.

You might try the following exercise with a liberal who will actually talk to you, instead of  screaming ”bigot” or ”gun nut.”  Ask them to think about the right-wing politician that they hate the most.  Give them a minute to really feel their self-righteous anger.  Ask them to imagine the object of their animus as President of the US.  Then ask them the question, “Do you really want to ban guns in civilian hands and give that person a total monopoly on the use of armed force in our country?” 

You may then be able to talk about the dangers inherent in gun registration and how the Nazis used lists of previously registered firearms to disarm their political enemies, before exterminating them.  You might be able to plant a seed of doubt that could grow into a political awakening 

Read the book by Horowitz and Poe, The Shadow Party, (here and here) to find out how left-wing moneyed interests set up an interlocking network of non-profits and foundations to elect Hillary Clinton to the Presidency.  Enter Obama.  Hillary out.  Obama in.  Find out how he inherited a “turn-key” political operation that propelled him from obscurity to the White House.

What do we do?  How do we keep from becoming the “little men” described by Mayer, who were swept along in a destructive national socialist movement?  Do just one thing a day to promote freedom!

Promote the “New Media” to your friends and neighbors.  Fight the “Fairness Doctrine” and other Liberal schemes to limit free speech, such as the “Card Check” scam to end secret ballots in union elections.  Join pro-Second Amendment organizations.  Check New Media sources on a daily basis.  (You don’t have to worry about not getting the left-wing side of the news.  It’s almost impossible to escape it.)  Get politically active.  Join a major party.  Become a block worker or precinct leader.  Contact your state and federal elected representatives on issues related to freedom.  Write letters to editors.  Donate, campaign, and stay involved.  Support electable candidates.  Support the Second Amendment as though your life depended on it.  You know, it very well might.

Imagine voting in a general election with someone looking over your shoulder to see how you vote!  Imagine that person telling your friends and neighbors how you voted!  Imagine that person having the power to subject you to intimidation and discrimination at your workplace!  These are the “benefits” of the so-called “Free Choice Act.”  This is the “Card Check” system that the union bosses want to use to take over American businesses and government agencies.

Why do I care?  Union support helped put the most anti-individual gun rights administration in the history of the country into office.  Now they want payback.  Read The Shadow Partyby Horowitz and Poe to look at the coalition of top-down, billionaire-funded, interlocking, anti- gun organizations behind Obama.  Check out discoverthenetworks.org.  The site still doesn’t have a category for anti-Second Amendment organizations, but virtually all of the groups mentioned toe the Hard Left anti-gun rights line.

“Understand,” as “The Chosen One” is fond of saying.  The Left Wing of the Democrat Party favors “Card Checks,” the “Fairness Doctrine,” “Localism,” Super Delegates, and any other means they can use to gain power for their movement to gain control of every aspect of your life.  (See my posts under the Categories: “Elections,” Unions,” “Culture War,” and “Politics.”)

If we allow the unions to take away the right of the secret ballot in union elections, will we fight to keep the ballot secret in general elections?

Senator Stabenow didn’t mention television or the mainstream print media in her call for “accountability.”  Of course, TV, newspapers, and magazines are dominated by Liberal anchors, editors, columnists, and reporters who often disguise “Progressive” propaganda as news reportage.

You may wonder what a Second Amendment blogger is doing talking about First Amendment issues.  “Understand!”  (BHO, “The Chosen One,” uses this so often to imply that his opinions are fact that I like to throw it in every once in a while just to let everyone know how “happy” I am to be under his “rule.”)  Understand! The Bill of Rights is a rich tapestry that protects the fundamental freedoms of all Americans.  Once you begin to tear at any part of the fabric of this most precious national treasure, you risk unraveling the miracle that is our republic.

The Democrats are not the party of free speech.  They are the party of super delegates, of no secret ballots in union elections, of press conferences stacked with Left-wing reporters, and of government research funds used to push political agendas.  Government funding of “Global Warming” studies, “Economic Stimulus” money that rewards “Shadow Party” organizations like ACORN, and funding for gun control studies through the Centers for Disease Control are all examples of ideology driving junk science through the use of taxpayer dollars.

(Read “The Shadow Party,” by Horowitz and Poe to understand what happened in the last election.  Substitute BHO for HRC and you will be enlightened as to how Obama inherited a “turn key” situation of ready-made, top-down-funded, “grassroots” organizations that carried the water for him in 2008.)

President Obama is reportedly on record as being opposed to “The Fairness Doctrine.”  He does, however, seem to support “Localism.”  This term is Liberal code for creating many small radio venues to provide “voices” for women and minorities who will somehow be more “responsive” to the needs of the people than large radio networks that host Conservative programs.  You can interpret this to mean the breakup talk radio as it exists and the replacement of the current system with Libral Radio probably funded by your tax dollars.  National Public Radio obviously isn’t enough for the Left.  I wish we had just one publicly-funded Conservative radio network.

The genius of Socialism and other oppressive statist ideologies is their ability to use tax dollars extracted from productive people to control and disempower the same citizens that they tax.  As we have recently discovered during financial disclosures from several potential Democrat candidates and appointees, some Liberals seem less than enthusiastic about paying their own taxes.  (I guess taxes are just for “ordinary citizens,” not for the Liberal Elite.)

Ironically, Liberals also seek to expand the number of citizens dependent on the public dole, thus broadening their constituent base.  “When you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can always count on the support of Paul.”

All supporters of the Constitution and lovers of freedom must be alert to any potential infringement of every liberty recognized by the Bill of Rights.  Eternal vigilance is, indeed, the price of freedom.

As Patrick Henry said, “Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel.”  Walt Whitman echoed Henry’s sentiment.  “There is no week nor day nor hour, when tyranny may not enter upon this country, if the people lose their roughness and spirit of defiance-Tyranny may always enter-there is no charm, no bar against it-the only bar against it is a large resolute breed of men.”  (And women.)

The First Amendment is almost as vital to the protection of our liberty as is the Second Amendment.   Let us defend the entire Bill of Rights and work to regain those freedoms that have been taken from us over the years.  Gun control and control of free speech don’t help our society.  They promote corruption, disregard for law and order, tyranny, and genocide.  Support the Bill of Rights!  (See my recent post, “The African-American experience with gun control,” under the Category: “History.”)

The results of the study don’t seem to indicate causation, but the correlation is interesting.  Cities with Democrat administrations prone to strict gun control laws appear to be the most violent places in the country.  At the very least, this information jibes with the exhaustive CDC and NAS Studies, which describe a pervasive lack of scientific proof that gun control laws prevent crime.

This new report comes at a time when the Obama Administration is reportedly planning to renew the semi-automatic weapons ban, severely restrict or kill gun shows, make police agency gun trace data available to politicians for propaganda purposes, and impose “smart gun” or “safe storage” laws on American gun owners.

Couple these plans with “local programming” regulations or the “Fairness Doctrine” and you have a comprehensive attack on both the First and Second Amendments.  You have to ask yourself, what are the Liberal Democrats planning that is so terrible that they fear free speech and armed resistance?

In Washington State, Seattle’s Mayor has proclaimed his intention to ban concealed carry on public property in defiance of statewide preemption laws and an Attorney General’s opinion. The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is on the case.

The Washington, D.C. City Council maintains their semi-automatic handgun ban and requirement that guns in the home be kept disassembled unless in the face of an actual break-in. The Council appears to be in direct defiance of the Heller United States Supreme Court Decision. No big deal there! (See my post “Heller goes after D.C. once more with feeling,” Category: “Courts,” on this site.

In Denver, District Attorney Mitch Morrissey declared Denver’s LoDo District to be off limits for firearms, even before the election. (Pankratz, Howard, “DA praises cop, warns against guns in LoDo,” The Denver Post, The Denver Newspaper Agency, 10-28-08, Page 2B.) As of this writing, Colorado has a “shall issue” concealed carry law that is not subject to fiat by local law enforcement.

Chatter continues on the Left about muzzling Conservative talk radio with “The Fairness Doctrine,” while leaving TV and the Mainstream Print Media free to spew Liberal propaganda in the guise of “news.” This has been going on for some time. Look for Left-wing attempts to regulate speech on the Net.

One can only imagine the assaults on the First and Second Amendments that will occur after “The Chosen One” takes office on January 20th. An attack on one gun owner or Second Amendment advocate is an attack on us all. An attack on free speech is an assault on the very foundations of our legacy of freedom. What are the Liberal Democrats planning that is so terrible that they fear free speech and armed resistance?

The Second Amendment Foundation issued a press release yesterday reflecting the nomination of the Clinton Administration official.  You remember Janet Reno:  “Assault Weapons” Ban, Waco, Ruby Ridge.  Her lieutenant’s appointment as Attorney General is a pretty clear indication of the real intentions of “The Chosen One.”

An Obamanista caller today on Peter Boyle’s Denver radio talk show, voiced a willingness to bet Conservatives that he, the caller, would still have his shotgun and his pistol at the end of a four-year Obama Administration.  It could happen.  In 2012, he could be paying a five-hundred percent tax on ammunition.  The caller could be keeping his registered weapons unloaded, locked up, and disassembled, so that they are useless to him for self-defense.  He could be driving two hundred miles to buy ammunition, since there may be no gun stores within five miles of a park or a school.  He probably won’t be attending gun shows, because there probably won’t be any gun shows.  He may not need ammunition, because PETA may have banned hunting.  Rifle, pistol, and shotgun ranges may all be closed, because of “environmental concerns” over lead contamination or noise issues.  Don’t even think about concealed carry!  If our intrepid caller seals the handgun barrel with lead, he may be able to use his pistol as a paperweight.

The crowning irony regarding this morning’s caller to the Peter Boyles’ Show, is that the caller may not be able to report on the air about the results of his gamble with his Second Amendment rights.  If Democrats succeed in killing talk radio with the “Fairness Doctrine,” we may never hear from our bold Obama supporter again.

On the other hand, if over 80 million gun owners rise as one and say, not “No,” but “Hell No!” we may be able to save at least some of the legacy of freedom passed down to us by the many brave American men and women who fought and died for liberty.  An assault upon the rights of any gun owner is an attack upon us all.  A “Fairness Doctrine” raid against the First Amendment strikes at the very heart of our constitutional republic.

If you don’t speak out now, you will lose your First and Second Amendment rights.  Ask yourself this question every day.  What is the Left planning that is so terrible that they fear free speech and armed resistance?

I tell the would-be “under the radar” folks that “They” know who you are.  If you have ever purchased a gun from a dealer, that yellow sheet is almost undoubtedly still on file somewhere.

If you have ever attended a gun show and parked in the parking lot, I believe there is a strong possibility that a federal agent or a police intelligence officer has recorded your license number as a gun show patron.  There was an incident a few years ago in Colorado where vendors at a show noticed an officer taking an exceptional interest in the license plates in a gun show parking lot.

Ever send an E-Mail or talk to someone on the phone about guns?  Ever hear of Echelon and Carnivore?  These are code names for massive electronic surveillance operations that target electronic communications.  Sophisticated computers scan messages and conversations for key words and phrases.  “Guns,” “ammunition,” “hunting,” “shooting,” and “bullets,” would be good guesses on targeted words.

Go to a shooting range or gun club?  Park in the parking lot?  Patronize one of the big box stores that sell guns, ammunition and hunting supplies?  Do you know the background of everyone in your gun club or collectors’ association?  Ever subscribe to a hunting or shooting magazine?

I’m not trying to make you paranoid.  I’m telling you that the chances of you flying “under the radar” are not good, unless you never used a credit card to buy ammunition, never bought cammo through a catalog, or never associated with anyone in “the Gun Culture.”

How do you know that your visit to this Blog hasn’t triggered a trace on your browser?  Are you accessing the net from a library, or from your very own computer in your very own home?  Privacy?  No such thing in the electronic age!

Did you EVER belong to the NRA, GOA, JPFO, RMGO, FCC, or other pro-Second Amendment Organization?  Ever attend a CCRKBA/SAF gun rights conference?  (If those initials don’t mean anything to you, I strongly recommend that you find out about gun rights groups, before “They” pay you an unfriendly visit or send you a letter “requesting” your immediate presence at “Headquarters.”)

OK!  So “They” know who you are.  How do you keep “Them” from coming after you?

You join one or more of the above organizations and support them with your money and your time.  You write letters to newspapers.  You E-mail, write, and call your elected officials and inform them of your opinions on your individual right to armed self-defense against crime and tyranny.  You keep visiting Blogs and Websites that deal with Second Amendment issues.  You talk to your friends about the need for armed citizens and the beneficial effects of guns in a free society.

You save Conservative Talk Radio from the “Fairness Doctrine” and resist any attempt at additional “Campaign Finance Reform.”  You protect the First Amendment with all the zeal that you bring to protect the Second.  Work to keep the UN out of US affairs.

You read the studies from the CDC, the NAS, the Small Arms Survey, and Kates and Mauser, so you can talk intelligently about the scientific basis for the desirability of civilian gun ownership.  You get out and campaign, or campaign more, and give money, or give more money to candidates who will support your natural, fundamental right to self-defense.  You vote for electable candidates who will support your rights better than their opponents.  You will not throw away your vote on a third party candidate with no chance to win.

You go to the range and practice to increase your skill and gain enjoyment from a worthwhile sport.  You live your life one day at a time, realizing that freedom isn’t free and that history hasn’t stopped.  If you hunt, you enjoy the outdoors and the other benefits of being with friends.  You realize that no human being lives forever, but that you can make a positive difference by supporting individual rights.

You never EVER give up on America and its promise of freedom.  If even ten percent of 80 million gun owners in America stand up as one and say not “NO,” but “HELL NO!” to gun control, we will keep our legacy as a sovereign people and will regain some of the rights that we have already lost.

If you try to hide in a hole, or plan to head to the mountains, or move to another state, in the face of nanny state oppression, believe me, “They” will find you.  “They” have ways of dealing mit people like you.  If you don’t work harder than ever to retain your fundamental, natural right to armed self-defense, you will lose it.  You will also contribute to the demise of the greatest experiment in self-government ever attempted on this tiny, spinning ball of mud and water.

It also came out in the Fox News report that Newsweek Magazine reporters with the Obama Campaign were embargoed from telling anything about the Campaign’s operations until after the election. You see, they made a deal. We won’t mention the tingling feeling in the leg that some female TV personalities seem to get in the presence of “The Chosen One.”

It’s typical of the Left-wing media to slant their coverage. It’s also typical of the Left to shaft you, then tell you how stupid you were to fall for their lies and omissions after it is too late to do anything about them.

The press covered up FDR’s paralysis. The Left-wing press covered up Joe Stalin’s political murders. The Left-wing press covered up John Kennedy’s bad back and his philandering. The Left-wing press covered up Saddam Hussein’s murderous tyranny. They made a deal!

The Left-wing press sat on Clinton’s affair with Lewinski. Now the Left-wing press has covered up for Barack Hussein Obama, “The Chosen One,” the Leader “We have been waiting for,” or shall we just call him Il Duce or Der Fuhrer? Don’t forget who “made the deal” with the press!

Those of us concerned with the fundamental individual right to armed self-defense against crime and tyranny have been all too aware of the Marxist Mainstream Media bias for several decades. We have seen the same anti-American, Left-wing slant in coverage of the Vietnam War and the War against Islamofascist Terror. Some other people are just finding out.

Before ChucK Schumer and his “inclusive, tolerant of diversity” comrades drive a stake through the heart of Conservative talk radio with “The Fairness Doctrine,” Here’s the Defense Mechanism version of a real Fairness Doctrine.

For every story that you read in the Mainstream Media on guns, you have to visit the NRA Website to get the other side of the story. For every hour that you watch MSM news programs, you must watch one hour of Fox News or listen to an hour of Conservative talk radio. (While you still can.) Every time you read a book by a liberal author, you have to read a book from the last two decades by David Horowitz, or a book by Sean Hannity, Hugh Hewitt, David Kopel, Ann Coulter, Bernie Goldberg, Dick Morris, Bill O’Reilly, or other Conservative writer. This is a “Fairness Doctrine” that just might save the country.

The problem with the Democrats, is that they misrepresent the truth so much that it’s hard to tell whether they are ever going to do what they say they will.  (Hopefully, Obama is going to renege on his tax increases, or the economy of this country is in deep trouble.)

As always, the Devil will be in the details.  Will the bill before Congress really be the expired “Assault Weapons” Ban that was simply a silly inconvenience to gun owners, because it banned guns based on cosmetic features, such as pistol grips, flash hiders, and bayonet lugs?  Will the Obama bill be the new version of the “Ban” on steroids that will allow an Attorney General to ban any semi-auto firearm based on the fact that the weapon was ever used by the military for anything?  Will the Obama ban cover virtually anything with a magazine well, because in theory such a weapon could accept a “high-capacity” magazine?

The repeal of the Tiahrt Amendment is simply a ploy to facilitate predatory lawsuits against gun makers and to allow anti-gun fellow travelers in the Mainstream Media to misuse trace data as evidence that certain types of firearms are more often used in crimes.  The fact that a particular gun has been traced by law enforcement agencies does not mean that the firearm was ever involved in a criminal act.

Obama wants to “close the ‘Gun Show Loophole.’  That is Liberal code for requiring background checks for firearms’ transactions between private individuals at gun shows.  This is a two-pronged attack on the Second Amendment by expanding the registration of of firearms’ transfers.  The next step is the requirement that all private transactions be registered.  Once this has been accomplished, the stage is set for government confiscation of all registered firearms in civilian hands.

The other reason that the Left wants to “regulate” gun shows is to “regulate” them out of business, so that they can no longer be used as public forums for gun owners and organizations that support the fundamental individual right of American Citizens to armed self-defense against crime and tyranny.  Obama’s hostility to both the First and Second Amendments is evident in this proposed legislation.

“Childproof guns” are the next item on “The Chosen One’s” agenda.  How do we “childproof” a gun?  We could take the Washington, D.C. approach and require that the gun be disassembled and unloaded.  We could take the Chicago approach and simply ban a type of firearm, all together.  (Obama has long supported both bans.)  We could require cipher lock/”smart gun” technology on all guns and ban any firearms lacking this unproven capability.  The goals of this stalking horse approach to gun control are to make guns prohibitively expensive, impossible to use for self-defense, and to eventually ban any gun that is not “safe.”

We can be sure that the Obama Administration will be competently assisted by their minions in the Mainstream Media in demonizing guns and the gun owners who were assured by Obama that he would “earn their trust.”

I have to say that ”The Chosen One,” the Leader of “The People We Have Been Waiting For” is off to a very bad start with regard to the Bill of Rights and the people who support it.  To those gun owners who supported Obama and those gun owners who voted third party or failed to vote, I have to say that I’m afraid that you have sown the wind and that we will all reap the whirlwind.

If a Republican had been elected, you can bet your Obama T-shirt that there would have been charges of “voter suppression” and lawsuits and investigations lasting until the next election.  The campaign to impeach McCain would have already started.  Let’s look for a moment at the issues surrounding “coming together” with the Democrats.

They have a plank in their party platform that calls for a draconian ban on semi-automatic firearms in direct contravention of the Second Amendment and the Heller Supreme Court Decision.  There are about 15 Democrat anti-gun rights bills in Congress.  Will Obama attack your individual right to armed self-defense against crime and tyranny as payback for his endorsement by the Brady Campaign? 

The Obama Campaign-supported group ACORN registered the same voter over forty times.  They registered at least one seven year-old girl.  ACORN blamed the people with the clip boards.  Good help is so hard to find!

The Democrats slandered Senator John McCain as being too old and out of touch to be President.  They slandered Governor Sarah Palin as being a simple idiot and unqualified to be Vice President, even though she has more executive experience than “The Chosen One.”  The assault on Palin continues, even though the election is over.

The Democrats used the Mainstream Media to protect Obama’s highly suspect Socialist background and associations.  (Davis, Ayers, Alinsky, etc.)  The Dems used that same media to viciously attack anyone, such as Joe the Plumber, who dared to question the anointed “Saviour of the Middle Class.”

The Democrats continue to talk about the restoration of “The Fairness Doctrine” to talk radio, killing one of the few media venues outside their control.  The elimination of talk radio would leave only the Internet and Fox News to counter the Pravda-like hegemony of the Left-wing Mainstream Media Press and TV.

The Left blocked reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that might have lessened the impact of the housing market debacle.  They supported ACORN and other “community organizations” in their efforts to force lenders to make loans to people who couldn’t and/or didn’t pay them back.  Then the “Party of Diversity and Inclusion” blamed the Republicans for the economic problems that the Democrats used as a springboard to vault “The Chosen One” into the highest office in the land.

(I doubt that Obama could work in the White House in any capacity other than President.  Like Bill Clinton before him, Barack Obama probably could not have passed a background check to get even a Secret Security Clearance.)

The Democrats, who now want unity, called President Bush a liar and an idiot.  The Left ran on a platform of abandoning the Iraqi People to the “mercy” of radical Islam.  ”Prominent” Democrats slandered the soldiers who deposed Saddam Hussein and who are working to rebuild and stabilize Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Obama Campaign refused to provide documentation on their vaunted list of small donors who supposedly contributed less than $200 per person.  What about the contributions from Gaza and Kenya, or the money they took in from donors who obviously made multiple donations in excess of legal limits?

I’ve got an idea!  Before we unite, let’s see if the Democrats attack the Second Amendment, like they promised they would.  Let’s see if the Democrats try to degrade the First Amendment in the same way that they have traditionally denigrated the Second.  Let’s have an honest investigation of Fannie and Freddie.  Let’s investigate ACORN for voter registration fraud and find out how many of those extra registrations actually resulted in fraudulent ballots.  Let’s have an honest investigation of the Obama Campaign for donation fraud.

If the Democrats come out clean, then we can unite.  Do I think there is a chance of fair investigations and Democrat support of the First and Second Amendments?  I’m skeptical.  I suspect we will just Move On.
