New computer-May have technical problems

I will be working from a new computer for the next couple of weeks. Hopefully there will be minimal disruption. There is a lot going on: the tragedy of the Oakland police officer killings, the trial of the woman who “exercised” her husband to death in a swimming pool, and the trial of the man who threw his children off a bridge. I’m betting that we won’t hear talk about banning swimming pools or bridges, but we probably will hear talk about more gun control, even though the police killings were perpetrated by a parole violator in the relatively “gun free” people’s paradise of California. Correction to “Violence in Mexico…”

I misquoted Steve Schreiner of the Firearms Coaltion of CO about the display of Soviet Bloc weapons in the 60 Minutes segment on Mexican gang violence on Sunday night. His information on weapons from the former USSR and its allies came from previous television stories. Only U.S.-made military and civilian firearms were displayed in the 60 Minute piece. The original post has been corrected. Sorry about the error. Always double check your sources.

Correction to “Conservatives voting for Obama…”

Never trust your memory, even if you lived through the event. The Seventh Congressional District in Colorado was not gerrymandered by the State Legislature, it was gerrymandered by a liberal judge in 2002, after the Legislature could not agree on the boundaries of the newly formed district. The Republicans in the State Legislature tried to redraw the boundaries, but a liberal judge ordered that the District continue as drawn by judicial fiat before the 2002 election. The post has been corrected. Apologies, if you printed the earlier version.

I walked precincts and dropped literature for Republican Bob Beauprez in 2002. We were amazed when he actually won the district by 121votes. Sometimes, you can win, even if the deck is stacked.

Due to personal issues, I will be off line on this site until about June 15th. Hopefully, I will have pithy comments to make at that time. (You have to say “pithy” carefully in polite company.) Keep the faith, fight the power, and keep your powder dry. The Second Amendment still recognizes our right to armed self-defense against crime and tyranny. D.C. v. Heller may be out by the time of our next chat. Let’s hope for a 7-2 victory for freedom!

I just deleted two comments referring to a writer named “Coffeypot” and my recent post on the best electable pro-gun candidate. The comments referred to another site. Clicking on links brought me back to this site. Since the comments added nothing to the conversation on the Second Amendment, I deleted them. I will be happy to post positive or negative comments regarding posts on this site, or additional information on the debate,. If I am not understanding a protocol issue here, please enlighten me.
