“New” “Assault Weapons” Ban no surprise
February 27, 2009 | 2 Comments
Obama Administration Attorney General Eric Holder’s announcement on Wednesday of a renewal of the “Assault Weapons” Ban should come as no surprise to anyone remotely aware of the struggle to maintain the Second Amendment rights of American Citizens. The Democrat Platform had an anti-individual rights plank and Obama, himself, supported the draconian Washington, D.C. gun ban, even [...]

Colorado SB 9-237 clears Judiciary Committee-a small victory for liberty and the Young Marines
February 26, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Last night, the Colorado State Senate Judiciary Committee passed SB 9-237. This bill restored a sliver of sanity to regulations about the possession of simulated guns on school grounds, while illustrating just how paranoid the schools and state government have become following the Columbine Massacre. The bill’s prime sponsors were Republican Senator Lundberg and Republican Representative Acree.
The [...]

Obama Interior Department may spike concealed guns in national parks
February 25, 2009 | 1 Comment
The Obama Administration is looking at the Bush regulation that allows concealed carry permit holders to exercise their government-limited Second Amendment right to armed self-defense in national parks. The Obama Justice Department apparently actually defended the Bush rule, saying that it “does not alter the environmental status quo, and will not have any significant impacts [...]

Jury duty and things you wish you had said in a hearing-CO HB 1180-Concealed Carry
February 22, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Be careful who you vote for and question your assumptions. As Oliver Cromwell famously said, “I beseech you, …, think it possible you may be mistaken.”
This month, I had two experiences not uncommon for citizens of the United States, but rare in the rest of the world. I answered a summons for jury duty and attended a hearing at [...]

More comments on H.R. 45
February 19, 2009 | Leave a Comment
While we want to face what seems to be a growing wave of anti-individual rights legislation during the new administration with determination and resolve, I believe we want to temper our rhetoric with measured discourse and sober realization. Right now, we want to resist any attempt to infringe upon our right to armed self-defense from [...]

Alert! Brace for Semi-auto Ban
February 17, 2009 | 2 Comments
A usually reliable source has reported that there is a letter circulating in the U.S. Congress seeking co-sponsors for a ban on semi-automatic firearms. This is not surprising, given the anti-gun nature of the party in power in Washington. The prototype for this bill will likely be Representative McCarthy’s H.R. 1022 that, in effect, bans everything [...]

“Fairness Doctrine,” Accountability,” and “Localism”-Liberal code words to silence diverse voices
February 17, 2009 | 3 Comments
As a proud member of what Senator Schumer “affectionately” calls “the Chattering Class,” I think we need to keep a sharp eye on Democrats like Senators Tom Harken and Debbie Stabenow. Stabenow opined on a talk radio show that we need to bring “accountability” to the radio airwaves, which are more or less dominated by [...]

Zero Tolerance = Zero Intelligence
February 12, 2009 | 5 Comments
By now, you have heard the story of Marie Morrow, the Cherokee Trail high school senior in Aurora, Colorado suspended for ten days after classmates saw three cadet-type drill team training “rifles” in her vehicle in the school parking lot. Ms. Morrow is a “leader in the Douglas County Young Marines,” which, oddly enough, has [...]
