Has your gun caused “personal injuries or property damage?”

On November 15th, in a post entitled “Obama voted to register gun owners with sex offenders,” Category- “Registration,” I briefly mentioned question #59 on the Obama pre-empoyment questionnaire for a position with his administration. The complete query is, “Do you or any members of your immediate family own a gun? If so, provide complete ownership and registration information. Has the registration ever lapsed? Please also describe how and by whom it is used and whether it has been the cause of any personal injuries or property damage.”
I believe that language is important, because it is the means by which we represent our understanding of our internal and external experiences. Aside from the fact that Obama seems to think that gun ownership, itself, raises some question about a person’s suitability for public office, let’s look at the mindset exposed by the language of this question.
“…whether it has been the cause of any personal injuries or property damage.” “The cause?” “The cause?” Did brother John and sister Mary fight over the gun they inherited from Grandpa? Did Mary hit John with a poker from the fireplace? In that case, I suppose the gun could have been “the cause” of personal injuries.
Obama and the people around him seem to think that guns are endowed with some sort of malevolent self-motivation capability or power that could enable them to “cause” injury or damage. I believe it is this sort of delusional thinking that makes the Left so dangerous.
Just to be sure, I periodically run a scientific test on one of my own guns. I load it and place it on a table. I then proceed to taunt, threaten and insult the firearm to see if it exhibits aggressive tendencies.
“You stupid Saturday Night Special! I’ll throw you in a fire to check your melting point! You couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn from point blank range! The company that made you employed bloodthirsty, evil, money-grubbing capitalist running dogs! Shoot me! Go ahead! If you’re so bad and cause so much death and destruction, shoot me!” You get the idea.
I have to report that on the occasions that I have run this test, no gun of mine has ever exhibited the slightest tendency toward aggressive behavior. If someone else has had a different experience, I would very much like to hear about it. I would also recommend that anyone having a different experience with a firearm seek immediate mental health assistance. You could also call an exorcist, a brujo, or other paranormal professional of your choice.
Guns are inanimate objects! Guns are tools! Guns do not jump up in the middle of the night and slither down the front steps seeking innocent victims! Please! Tell every Liberal you know that they are safe from “gun violence.” The guns don’t want to hurt them. At least, none of my guns has ever mentioned a threat to someone on the Left.
In fact, according to a study by the UN-affiliated Small Arms Survey out of Geneva, Switzerland, there is no correlation between gun ownership and the level of violence in a society. (Keep in mind that the UN doesn’t like guns.)
So, rest easy, Liberals! It’s not the guns that you have to worry about. Now swimming pools, trampolines, automobiles, and roller skates! Those things are downright dangerous.
