McCain yard signs and the Second Amendment-Note to John
October 13, 2008 | Tagged anti-gun Obama, McCain yard signs, Obama suppresses free speech |
Note to John in Flint, Michigan: thanks for sharing your perspective on my posts “Obama Second Amendment ad a tasteless joke?” and “Cautionary note on yard sign revenge. Hunting is not worth it.” I notice from your E-mail address that you have “edu” at the end. I’m guessing that you’re going to college in Flint. I’m going to try to say this as gently as possible. Keep in mind that I am not an attorney and this is not legal advice.
Unless you are a first term freshman, I recommend that you sue the university. The English Department has failed you. “God damn you are a racist moron.” is a short comment, but it is it not a well-crafted one. I might suggest: “God damn you! You are a racist moron.” or “God damn! You are a racist moron!” (If you are a first term freshman, you might consider legal action against your high school.) Everybody makes mistakes in grammar, spelling, and punctuation, but a one line comment should be fairly easy to put together.
You may also want to consider an anger management course. Rage is not a healthy emotion. Long-term anger can damage your immune system as well as your internal organs.
In the interest of political correctness, it is not proper to use the term “moron.” I have a background in assisting people with disabilities. Many who are differently-abled in terms of mental capability find the stereotypical word “moron” to be offensive. Please find some other term to express your disdain for me that respects others not involved in the discussion. Try to avoid profanity. I get angry when you curse at me and I write unkind remarks about your education.
With regard to your other comment, you offer the opinion that “Obama isn’t going to take away your gun rights.” along with some pejorative remarks about Senator McCain and Governor Palin. You offer no facts in support of any of your assertions. You again accuse me of being racist. Let’s deal with that first.
My belief that Barack Obama (didn’t use his middle name) is wrong on the War on Terror, is a threat to the Second Amendment and the rights it recognizes, is wrong on abortion, wrong on health care, wrong on the economy and wrong on just about everything else, does not make me a racist. I voted against McGovern, Carter, Clinton, Gore, and Kerry, all Whites. (Yeah! I’m that old.) I would vote for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice or Doctor Alan Keyes on a GOP ticket. I campaigned for a Black candidate for the state legislature in about 1996. I have been supervised by a Black woman, who wrote a commendation letter about my work. I have worked with many Blacks and never had an issue about race. You can call me a “racist,” but you are short on facts. You also seem to make the assumption that I am not Black, myself. Hmmmmm!
With regard to your comment about Obama and guns, I don’t believe you have any idea what you are talking about. If you had checked the link on the post, you would have discovered documented public statements and votes by Obama that indicate a deep hostility to the private ownership and use of firearms by Americans.
Obama says that he supports the Second Amendment; but he also says that he supports the current regulation in Washington, D.C. that requires gun owners to keep their non-semi-auto firearms disassembled and unloaded, unless someone is breaking into their home. That statute requires either precognition of a home invasion, or a “time-out” during which the threatened homeowner is allowed by the felon(s) to assemble and load a weapon. Washington, D.C. bans semi-automatic weapons. I believe these D.C. actions are in blatant defiance of the Heller Supreme Court Decision. (See my post: “New D.C. gun regulations seem to flout Supreme Court decision” under the Category “Courts” on this site.)
Heller defines the right to keep and bear arms as a fundamental right and bars the banning of any firearm that is in common use for a lawful purpose. Heller also specifically struck down the D.C. requirement for disassembly of weapons in the home. Here we have Democrats apparently poking a stick in the eye of the Supreme Court of the United States. Barack Obama has stated that he supports that outrage.
Just today, the rabidly anti-gun rights Brady Campaign endorsed Obama. Under the cover of Liberal code as “Opponents of gun violence,” the folks at Brady endorsed Obama for his support of “…a ban on all forms of semiautomatic weapons and tighter state restrictions generally on firearms.” Is the Brady campaign lying about Obama’s record, or is Obama lying about his record?
(I know the Bradys are (or were) classified as Republicans. I personally blame their defection to the Left on the cottage industry of lawyers and social workers who chase after ambulances and ease the guilt and suffering of gunshot survivors and victims by blaming inanimate objects, instead of the criminals who perpetrated the violence.)
Incidentally, I don’t know anyone who is a “supporter” of gun violence, unless it would be those members of the Democrat Party who promote “gun-free” criminal-safe free fire zones where felons have their pick of unarmed victims. Obama comes out of the Chicago Democrat Political Machine that has created a city that is almost as dangerous as a war zone. (See my posts under “Gun Law Failures.”
Obama’s version of the Second Amendment is not any part of the Bill of Rights that exists in my universe. His hostility to my fundamental right to self-defense against crime and tyranny has nothing to do with race.
There are currently about fifteen anti-gun bills in the U.S. Congress. If Obama is elected with a 60-vote majority in the U.S. Senate, I believe all those bills will pass. As far as I am concerned, gun control doesn’t work. It promotes corruption, tyranny, and genocide. (Check my other posts for detailed documentation of these claims. Again, “Gun Law Failures” is a good category.)
You may or may not be aware that many gun control laws originated in the south during the Jim Crow Era, when Democrats tried to disarm Blacks to prevent them from defending themselves against lynch mobs. That was genocidal racism! Democrats stood in doorways to keep Black students from attending integrated schools. That was racism! Sue your high school and the university, if you didn’t know about these ”inconvenient truths.” By the way, Lincoln was a Republican.
Obama has tried to suppress the First Amendment right of NRA members to make their voices heard in the debate over gun control. He threatened to sue the NRA and radio and TV stations in Pennsylvania and Ohio over NRA ads that point out his real record on guns.
If telling the truth about Barack Obama is “fear-mongering,” then sign me up as a monger. Obama scares me, not because of his race, but because he seems to brook no opposition to what I believe is his Socialist agenda. If he is willing to trample on the First and Second Amendments, what else is he willing to do to achieve his political ambitions?
Feel free to continue commenting about the issues on this site. Please try to back up your beliefs and arguments with the facts, as you see them. Name calling doesn’t advance your cause. See the comment by Sarah F. on the “McCain yard sign stolen!…” post for a more reasoned response to my opinions. (Category: Elections.)
