More McCain yard signs down. Obama and backers apparently dislike First and Second Amendments
September 29, 2008 | 7 Comments
Comments continue to come in regarding my recent post on vandalism directed against Republican yard signs. Two people in the South Denver Metro Area said to my wife and me on Saturday that their McCain yard signs had been slashed. Yesterday, I picked up a yard sign for a GOP state senate candidate that had [...]

Saddam Hussein, terrorists, and WMD, Part 3, Salman Pak
September 27, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Salman Pak was apparently the name of the Prophet’s barber. Salman Pak is also the name of a city southeast of Baghdad and consequently the name of a terrorist training camp sanctioned, if not maintained, by Saddam Hussein in that location. You will recall that Hussein paid a $25,000 bounty to the families of terrorist suicide bombers who murdered Israeli and [...]

Comment re: “Chicago gang violence…” lacks intellectual substance
September 25, 2008 | Leave a Comment
While reviewing comments on this site, I came upon a recent two-word gem lacking capitalization or punctuation. I’m not sure if the “you suck” (sic) comment from mc loving referred to my post, “Chicago gang violence shows gun law failure” (April 24th, 2008, Category: Gun Law Failures) or to a comment under that post.
It [...]

Charges not filed against man with guns in Pelosi’s hotel
September 23, 2008 | Leave a Comment
The Denver Post reported on 09-16-08 that no charges would be filed against Joseph Calanchini, a Wyoming resident who was arrested for carrying cased firearms into the House Speaker’s hotel during the Democrat Convention. (”No charges for gun carrier during Dems’ Convention,” Denver Post, 09-16-08, Page 2B.) See my post, “Denver Weapons Arrest at Pelosi’s [...]

Brits have gained some right to self-defense
September 21, 2008 | 1 Comment
In July of this year, before my last post bemoaning their state of helplessness in the face of crime, British subjects appear to have been given some ability to legally defend themselves from burglars and assailants. On July 15th, authorities authorized crime victims to fight back against attack without having to prove their innocence [...]

Shooting death toll rises-time for U.S. to pull out of Chicago?
September 19, 2008 | Leave a Comment
CBS 2 reports that 125 people were shot and killed this summer in Chicago. The story further states that the number almost equals the number of troops lost in Iraq over the same period.
What are we to make of this carnage in a city with a handgun ban and some of the most onerous anti-self-defense laws in the [...]

Saddam Hussein, terrorists and WMD, Part 2, al Qaida
September 15, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Based on information from a variety of sources, I believe that Saddam Hussein cooperated with al Qaida and conspired with that organization against U.S. interests.
I’m not an attorney. No. I don’t play one on TV or radio. I’m just an old U.S. Army Intelligence guy. I do, however, believe that I have some basic understanding of the concept of [...]

McCain yard sign stolen! I suspect the Democrats.
September 13, 2008 | 51 Comments
You can tell that the political season is upon us. Yesterday in a brazen daylight act of vandalism, somebody stole a McCain yard sign from my front yard. I suspect a person or persons belonging to the Hard Core Left Wing of the Democrat Party.
Who benefits from this crime? That is the question of the moment. It could [...]

9-11, Saddam Hussein, terrorists and WMD
September 12, 2008 | 3 Comments
It seems appropriate on September 11th, another day that “will live forever in infamy,” to look back at the status quo antebellum and the history of the War in Iraq. This is especially important during this election cycle, since Barack H. Obama’s primary claim to fame was that he was against the 2003 invasion of [...]

Re: Obama and lipstick on pigs…
September 11, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Nightrider in his comment urged emphasis on weightier matters than Obama’s pig in makeup. I agree that the candidate’s bad joke, gaffe, or whatever it was should not be the defining issue of the campaign. I disagree with Obama on gun control, taxes, the War on Islamofascist Terror, eliminating secret ballots in union elections, abortion, and just about [...]
