Presumed drug gang members apparently assassinated Mexico’s pro tem federal police chief in his home on May 8th, 2008. According to the AP story on Page 15A in the May 9th Denver Post, Edgar Millan Gomez was shot ten times.

I guess the gangsters didn’t get the memo about Mexico’s strict gun control laws and the part of the criminal code where it says that murder is illegal. Can you imagine the uproar in the U.S., if a high level police official had been assassinated? The community of honest people who own guns would never hear the end of it.

This murder is yet another example of the failure of gun control and the all too obvious fact that guns don’t create criminal behavior. Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 B.C. with edged weapons. The methods may change, but murderous intent remains a constant in the hearts and minds of violent individuals. Gun control only disarms potential victims.
