60 Day Comment Period Opens on Guns in National Parks
May 1, 2008 | Tagged Concealed Carry, guns in national parks, Second Amendment | Leave a Comment
You have 60 days to advocate that state concealed carry laws should be applied to national parks and wildlife refuges in the states where they are located. Current federal regulations mandate that firearms be unloaded, disassembled, and inaccessable, except for authorized hunting, while you are in a national park or refuge. I would encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to influence national policy. See the news release on the Colorado Gun Issues link on the Blogroll. The message number is 1810.

Orignal document ID doesn’t work. Search under “concealed carry in national parks.”
Please be polite and offer concise reasons why you believe that allowing armed self defense in national parks and wildlife refuges is a good idea. You might mention recent murders in “criminal-safe free fire areas,” otherwise known as “gun free” zones. You could also cite Wright and Rossi, Kleck, and Lott on the benefits of concealed carry.
You can bet that the other side will get pumped up over this and send in a boatload of comments. They want to limit concealed carry as much as they can. We need to make our case.
