Pro Rights and Right to Self-Defense Possible Labels
May 30, 2008 | 1 Comment
Thanks for the comments. I like both “Pro Rights” and “Right to Self-Defense” as possible short titles or catch phrases to describe the struggle to maintain our rights to self-defense against crime and tyranny. “Pro Armed Self-Defense” might be another possibility.
I do have a problem with gun registration, because in England, Australia, New [...]

Language Counts in the Debate on Guns
May 29, 2008 | 3 Comments
“Saturday Night Specials,” “Cop Killer Bullets,” “Assault Weapons,””Junk Guns,” Bullet Hoses,””Sniper Rifles:” we hear these pejorative terms applied all the time to guns and ammunition. Those of us in The Community of People Who Legally Possess Firearms must be more careful in not allowing anti-gun fanatics, latte liberals, and hard-core socialists to dictate the terms of the [...]

The Strange Case of the PPK Revolver
May 27, 2008 | Leave a Comment
I’m not sure if this post comes under the category of “Media Bias” or “Media Ignorance,” but it does refer to the fact that many media mavens are not familiar with the topics about which they write. Take, for example, the feature story on Page 1 of the Rocky spotlight, Rocky Mountain News, Saturday, [...]

Attack Highlights Need for Increased Food Control

I just hate to have to do this. Maybe I won’t do it. No. The compulsion is too strong, even though bloggers and pundits all over America must be jumping on this story, I just have to weigh in. I swear. You couldn’t make this up.
When Moon Pies are outlawed, [...]

NRA-ILA “Outs” Trojan Horse AHSA
May 25, 2008 | Leave a Comment
You remember the old line from Homer about the Trojan Horse, “Beware of Greeks bearing gifts,” and the more modern rejoinder, “Beware of gifts bearing Greeks.” The NRA once again exposes the anti-gun pedigree of the so-called gun rights group, The American Hunters and Shooters Association. (”Pro-Gun” Group Endorses Most Anti-Gun Candidate, Friday, [...]

Cape Buffaloes Point Way to Political Victory
May 24, 2008 | 1 Comment
I do not use the word “awesome” lightly. Have you seen the awesome video that was reportedly shot of a lion attack on a cape buffalo herd in Africa? Let’s assume for the sake of argument that this dramatic footage is real.
We see a pride of five or so lions attack a herd [...]

Voting Your Pocketbook? Watch Out For Your Guns!

Let me begin by saying that I tend to be a perceptualist, when it comes to psychology. I believe we are all trying to understand how the world works to the best of our abilities. We do not agree on issues, because we are raised in different traditions, we get our information from [...]

Firearms Coalition of Colorado-Grassroots Pro-Second Amendment Organization
May 21, 2008 | 1 Comment
Full disclosure: I have been associated with the Firearms Coalition for over fifteen years.
This all-volunteer, Colorado grassroots organization is near and dear to my heart, because it is a regular at almost every major gun show along the Front Range, and is often present in other areas of the state. The Coalition distributes educational [...]

Good Review of Major Gun Issue Research
May 20, 2008 | 1 Comment
Ran across a good annotated review of major research in the debate on guns by bodo. “Critical Juncture, Some Notes on Gun Control, B27111/Thu, 14 Feb 2008 19:28:09/”War on Terror”
http://bodo.gnn.tv/blogs/27111/Some_Notes_On_Gun_Control.
One interesting thing about the gun control debate is the number of honest scientists, who start out with the hypothesis that guns somehow [...]

Colorado Democrats Post Anti-Freedom Platform
May 19, 2008 | 1 Comment
Colorado Democrats have assembled and published their platform for the 2008 Campaign. If you love freedom and value your First and Second Amendment rights, you need to be worried.
Democrats “support reinstating equal time requirements (the fairness doctrine)…” to the “airwaves.” This means that if a TV or radio station expresses an opinion, [...]
