CO “Electoral Competion”-Hide your wallet/gun
April 28, 2008 | Tagged Colorado legislation, gerrymandering, redistricting, Second Amendment |
State Senator Ken Gordon, long-time proponent of private gun sale bans and “safe storage” laws, is cosponsoring Senate Bill 198. The bill has passed the Senate and will probably pass the House this week. This bill will help make congressional districts “competitive,” when the state redraws political boundaries in 2011. I read this to mean that a Democrat majority, if in power, will gerrymander every Colorado state house and senate district and every federal house district to be either a “safe” Democrat stronghold, or a “competitive” Republican battleground.
In 2001, the Colorado Democrats gerrymandered U.S. House District 7 as a “safe” district. Bob Beauprez “stole” it from them once, before Perlmutter brought it back into the fold.
If this information on the creation of “competitive” districts does not motivate you to vote a straight GOP ticket in November, I believe we will all live together in The People’s Republic of Colorado, Comrade. I predict legal gun ownership rights will be hard to come by in the People’s Republic.
